ADVANCED HVT GUIDE

KILL OR CAPTURE "HIGH VALUE TARGET"

CREATED BY

There will be times when it will be more important to attack with surprise
than to spend time covering the objective with fire, just like when must kill or
capture a "HVT" located in a building or town.
Attacking suddenly, with level of voilence and with surprise on your side, can
be a force multiplier that can outweigh any effects or situations that might
otherwise be achieved by covering the objective with fire.
Typicially a sniper team or a reconissance team would be used to gather intel
on said target , and in some situations even kill or capture the target with the
help from the platoon they are attached to, but more than often the basic
infatry of a section would carry out this task during their cqb tasks/training.

what is required of you

Surprise
Surprise is the key to a successful assault in close quarters. The entry team
clearing the room must achieve the element of surprise, if only for seconds,
by deceiving, distracting, or startling the enemy. Sometimes stun grenades
are used to achieve the surprise. Surprise is when your entry is not
compromised.

Speed
Speed provides a measure of security to the entry team and allows the
operators to use the first few vital seconds of surprise to their maximum
advantage. Speed is moving only as fast as you can shoot accurately.

Rehearse communication
Speed and momentum will make or break this type of action. Poor
communication techniques will slow your building clearing to a crawl. When
entering a room, communication is required between the team in order to
clear it quickly and move to the next objective.
You must communicate among yourself's and remember cqb training and
precision room clearing!

THE SENCE OF URGENCEY IS OF THE UP MOST

IMPORTANCE WHEN CARRYING OUT KILL OR CAPTURE
MISSIONS.
key point's when capturing or killing a hvt are :

1. LOCATE AND GATHER INTEL ON HVT LOCATION

POSITION.

THIS CAN BE DONE MULTIPLE WAYS:

Getting "eyes on" target

Mission briefing

Sniper team

Recon team

2. Move Without Detection IF POSSIBLE.

Be in the correct order of march/stacking.

Avoid unnecessary movement

Control the Distance between you and the target. (depending on

situation)

3.

At a distance u have :

Increased reaction time.

Increased options in use of force, finding cover, and overall approach.

More team members and weapons for support.

Tactically and silently.

More visiability.(in most situations)

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE TIME WINDOW NEEDED TO "NEUTRALISE

THE TARGET WITH SOME PRECISE SHOOTING WITHOUT A SENCE OF
URGENCEY".

4.

Up close u will have and need :

Less reaction time and Fewer options avaiable.

blocking target acquisition of other team members.(so remember line

of sight,covering sectors)

Speed , simplicity , level of voilence.

Remarkable cqb skills.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE OPPERTUNITY TO CAPTURE THE HVT

"ALIVE" WITH THE ADDED SENCE OF URGENCEY.

Eliminating the threat may be accomplished with lesser means of force

than deadly force. When deadly force is used, the team must
effectively eliminate the threat as quickly as possible with accurate
and discriminating fire. This can be accomplished from or while moving
to dominating positions.
"the battle is not won with the first shot ! - It is won with the first
accurate shot."

fundermentals FOR CAPTURING A HVT

WOULD BE :

To remember basic infantry cqb and security techniques.

The useage of STUN / FLASH grenades would be essential.

Precision shooting.

Be confident in your abilities and cqb.

Evacuation/exfil procedures.

fundamentals for killing a hvt would

be :

precison shooting and ensuring others have more than average

marksman skills.

sniper team usage.

frag grenades upon entry to rooms when cqb.

ordinance to destroy targets location ( arty/apache called in on building

ect ect )

level of voilence

locating /neturalising the target as quick as possible.

As for the practical side of this aspect, infantry are to have a clear
understanding and remember all CQB basic infantry training and "advanced
CQB" procedures.
You need to be confident in the usage of stun/flash/frag grenades upon entry
to rooms in close vacinity of others, and also have good weapon disipline and
marksmanship skills to sucessfully complete this task.

REMEMBER SLOW IS SMOOTH - SMOOTH IS FAST !
