CHARACTER
Design Goal:
- Reflection of Filipino culture and values through architectural
elements as an identity
-contrast of shapes and forms
- Balance between linear and non- linear
OBJECTIVE:
1. Unconventional blending of different materials, contrast of hard and
soft textures for building effects
2. Providing design patterns from Filipino architecture and culture, like
Filipino geometric patterns etc.
3. Eccentric combinations of forms and shapes to meet various design
strategies. Using linear and non-linear designs.
DESIGN ELEMENTS (1)
a) Using different textures to enhance visual impression and psychological
implications.
b) Implementing massiveness on specific parts of the design by adding large
blocks portions, to have an impression of strength.
c) Using curves at some parts of design to be a balancing element
architecturally for a natural flow in the composition.
DE for OBJ (2)
a) Implementing patterns found in Filipino architecture, like sawali to bring a
character on the design.
b) Openness in the design, like breathing walls, pilotis approach, and using light
materials.
c) Treatment of spaces like maximizing spaces, delineating floor areas and
convertible spaces.
DE for OBJ (3)
a) Organic composition, natural flow, spontaneous generation of shapes,
eccentric forms will be used.
b) Balancing shapes between curves and linear, large and small, etc. to
counteract rigidness and conformity
c) Using Fibonacci sequence on designs

ORIENTATION
DESIGN GOAL: emphasizing points of interest on site
-Managing visual consistency on site

OBJECTIVES:
1. Strategic placing/arrangement of building around the site.
2. Planning and designating a sequential flow of movement around the
site
3. Using color and variety on design for designation of depth and
proportion

DE for OBJ 1
a) Proper distances around the building and variety of open spaces, and
treatment of ground area textures and surfaces.
b) Creating an openings around the building envelop where there will be a
visual interest on some points.
c) Controlling the use of color shading, and the use of plants and shrubs
for visual access and control.
DE for OBJ 2
a. Creating a multiple path walks with various types of ground surfaces to
provide an effect on users.
b. Designation between major and minor road networks around the site
c. Elevated path walks, walkways and also inversely elevated areas.
DE for OBJ 3
a. Interplay of solids and cavities on buildings
b. Modulating colors around points of interest, therefore resulting a
gradual transition on surrounding.
c. Use of shadows for proportioning to enhance composition
