New Platform Features


This release introduces SAP Mobile Platform, which incorporates both the Sybase
Unwired Platform and Syclo Agentry development environments. SAP Mobile Platform
version 2.3 SP04 includes new features that support development and management of the
system.
Several product names have also changed in this release. See Rebranding on page 3.
Note: See Supported Hardware and Software for the list of devices, operating systems, APIs,
and tools that SAP Mobile Platform currently supports.

Object API Development


New or changed features for Object API development.
Background Synchronization
In 2.3 SP04, iOS RBS applications can take advantage of the Apple background refresh
feature to synchronize to the SAP Mobile Server in the background, and keep the client
database up to date with any server-side data changes that might occur while the user is not
using the application.

Index APIs
In 2.3 SP04, you can dynamically create, find, and drop an index for an MBO table on the
device database, which increases performance compared to modifying the data model in SAP
Mobile WorkSpace to perform these tasks.

iOS Object API Application Support for iOS7 Devices


iOS OAPI applications built with SAP Mobile SDK version 2.3 SP04 work on iOS7 devices.
The Tutorial: iOS Object API Application Development and Recipe Sample application have
been updated accordingly.

iOS Object API Application Support for 64-bit Architectures


iOS OAPI applications built with SAP Mobile SDK version 2.3 SP04 supports 64-bit
architectures. The Tutorial: iOS Object API Application Development has been updated
accordingly.
Android Object API Supports Importing a certificate from a System Store
In 2.3 SP04, you can import a certificate binary large object (BLOB), which is a digitally
signed copy of the public X.509 certificate, from either a file or from X509Certificate/
PrivateKey retrieved from system credential storage using the Android KeyChain API .

New or changed features for MBO development.
Web Service Connection Profile Enhancement
In 2.3 SP04, define the operations to be included as part of the Web service connection profile,
by selecting only required operations, structures, and lists. Simple types are always selected
and cannot be unselected.

Administration
New or changed features for administration.
Relay Server Installation and Configuration Instructions for Apache on Linux Hosts
In 2.3 SP04, there are new installation and configuration instructions for Relay Server on
Apache HTTP Server RedHat Enterprise and SUSE Enterprise.

Application Customization Resource Bundles
In 2.3 SP04, a customization resource bundle can be either a JAR or ZIP file.

Rebranding

Load Balancer Configuration


In 2.3 SP04, the SAP Mobile Server Administrator can configure a farm of relay servers,
including values for the load balancer that is in front of the Relay Server farm, in SAP Control
Center.

Cipher Management
In 2.3 SP04, the SAP Mobile Server Administrator can enable or disable individual ciphers
supported in the security characteristic/security profile.

Security Profile Security Characteristic Support Changes


In 2.3 SP04, security profiles no longer support strong, strong_mutual, domestic, or
domestic_mutual security characteristics. Instead use "default" or "default_mutual".

Enforcing OData Application Registration


In 2.3 SP04, the SAP Mobile Server Administrator can require OData applications to register
with the SAP Mobile Server cluster.

Rebranding
Sybase Unwired Platform and the Syclo Agentry development platform have been integrated,
and the product rebranded to SAP Mobile Platform. Changes have been made to the user
interface, and product documentation.

implemented:

SMP_HOME represents the SAP Mobile SDK installation directory.
The default installation directory is: C:\SAP\MobilePlatform.
In earlier versions, this was represented as: SUP_HOME or
<UnwiredPlatform_InstallDir>\UnwiredPlatform\.
SCC_HOME represents the SAP Mobile Platform Runtime installation directory.
The default installation directory is: C:\SAP\SCC-XX.
In earlier versions, this was represented as:
<UnwiredPlatform_InstallDir>\SCC-XX\.
Hybrid App and Hybrid Web Container Name Changes several name changes have
been made to SAP Mobile Platform to reflect the change from a workflow emphasis, to
Hybrid Apps and Hybrid Web Container. These name changes can be seen in the Designer
user interface, and the product documentation. See the key for new product names
introduced in version SAP Mobile Platform 2.2.
