Overview
You can download Informatica software from Informatica's FTP site. You can run the
installation from the download files.
If you have any problem with the download or installation process, contact Informatica
Technical Support.

Downloading PowerCenter
To download Informatica software, you can use Akamai Technologies' Download Manager.
Download Manager allows you to pause and restart the download process. If your internal
firewall does not allow you to download the files through Download Manager, you can
download the files directly.
Tip: Use Download Manager for optimal performance.
To download the files:
1.

Turn off all pop-up blockers before you begin the download process.

2.

In the email, find the download link ending with .zip or .tar.gz.

3.

Click the link or copy it to the address bar of a browser.

Based on your email setting, the links maybe truncated, and you will need to manually
enter the truncated portion of the link.

4.

Enter your case-sensitive user ID and password to access the download files.
The Download Manager window appears:

To download the files directly, click the link "click here."

-orTo download the files using Download Manager, click the link "Click to download your
file now."

6.

If you are installing on Internet Explorer, and Download Manager is not installed,
click "Yes" to install the software.

If you are installing on Mozilla Firefox, accept the security warnings to download the
files.

Click "Save" to begin the download process.

Installing PowerCenter
Before you install PowerCenter, verify that your system and database meet the minimum
requirements. You can verify the prerequisites for the PowerCenter components you install.
You must also complete some pre-installation tasks such as creating databases and configuring
environment variables. For more information about the minimum system requirements and
pre-installation tasks, refer to the Installation and Configuration Guide included in the
downloaded documentation.
When you unpack the installation files, the files extract to a directory called
PCAE81<platform>. For example, if you unzip the files on a Windows machine, the files
extract to a directory named PCAE81WIN32. The installation files will extract to one of the
following directories:

PCAE81SOLARIS32

PCAE81SOLARIS64

PCAE81HPUX32

PCAE81HPUXIPF64

PCAE81AIX32

PCAE81AIX64

PCAE81LINUX32

PCAE81LINUX64

PCAE81WIN32

You may experience decreased performance if you run the PowerCenter installer from a
network location. To increase performance when installing PowerCenter from a network
location, for example, over a WAN, use the console mode installer.
Note: To receive updated SAP transports, download Zeus810_SAPTRANS_ESD.zip. For

more information about installing SAP transports, see the PowerCenter Connect for SAP
NetWeaver Transport Versions Installation Notice in the saptrans\mySAP directory after you
unzip the file.

Overview

Installing on Windows
The installation download for Windows contains the installation for PowerCenter Services,
PowerCenter Reports, and the PowerCenter Client. You run one command to install all
components.
To install on Windows:
1.

Move the downloaded .zip file to the machine where you want to install the product.

2.

Unzip the file.

3.

To install PowerCenter, run install.exe from the PCAE81WIN32 directory.

Installing on UNIX
The installation download for UNIX contains the installation for PowerCenter Services and
PowerCenter Reports on UNIX. It also contains the installation for the PowerCenter Client
on Windows. To run the PowerCenter Client installation, you must copy the unpacked files
from the UNIX machine to a Windows machine. You run separate commands to install each
of the components.
To install PowerCenter Services on UNIX:
1.

Move the downloaded .tar.gz file to the machine where you want to install the
PowerCenter Services.

2.

Unpack the file.

3.

Run install.sh from the PCAE<platform> directory.

4.

Follow the instructions in the installer to complete the PowerCenter Services installation.

To install PowerCenter Reports on UNIX:

1.

Move the downloaded .tar.gz file to the machine where you want to install the
PowerCenter Reports.

2.

Unpack the file.

3.

Run install_reports.sh from the PCAE<platform> directory.

4.

Follow the instructions in the installer to complete the PowerCenter Reports installation.

To install the PowerCenter Client on Windows:

1.

Copy the PCAE<platform> directory from the UNIX machine to the Windows machine
where you want to install the PowerCenter Client.

2.

Run install.exe from the PCAE<platform> directory.

3.

Select PowerCenter Client in the installer, and follow the instructions to complete the
PowerCenter Client installation.

Warning: To ensure successful installation of the PowerCenter Client, move the

PCAE<platform> directory and all subdirectories and files to the machine where you install
PowerCenter Client.
