EDUCATION
EDUCACION SYSTEM IN THE U.S.A.
Education in the United States is mainly provided by the public sector, with control and funding coming from
three levels: local, state, and federal, in that order. Child education is compulsory. There are also a large number
and wide variety of higher education institutions throughout the country that one can choose to attend, both
publicly and privately administered.
The systematic education of USA is divided into four parts
Elementary School.
Middle School.
High School
Public Higher education.
Elementary School Grade 1 to 5 - Children aged 5 to 10 years
Middle School - From 6 to 8 degree - Children aged 11 to 13 years old
High School - 9th through 12th grade - Young people between 14 and 18 years old
Public higher education institutions and private higher education colleges 2 or 4 year colleges, universities,
technical schools that are open to all adults.
Preschool: In large cities, sometimes there are private preschools catering to the children of the
wealthy.
Because some wealthy families see these schools as the first step toward an elite college education,
there are even counselors who specialize in assisting parents and their toddlers through the
preschool admissions process.
Elementary school: Elementary school includes kindergarten through fifth. Basic subjects are taught
in elementary school, and students often remain in one classroom throughout the school day, except
for physical education, library, music, and art classes.
Secondary education (Junior and senior high school): Middle school usually includes sixth,
seventh and eighth grade; "Junior high" typically includes seventh, eighth, and ninth grades the
students in these grades are commonly referred to as freshmen (grade 9), sophomores (grade 10),
juniors (grade 11) and seniors (grade 12).
Public school systems are supported by a combination of local, state, and federal government
funding. The school board appoints an official called the superintendent of schools to manage the
schools in the district.
Private schools Private schools charge varying rates depending on geographic location, the school's
expenses, and the availability of funding from sources, other than tuition.

College and university: Post-secondary education in the United States is known as college or
university and commonly consists of four years of study at an institution of higher learning.
There are 4,495 colleges, universities, and junior colleges in the country, some students choose to
attend a community college for two years prior to further study at another college or university.
Cost: Public University (4 years): $27,967 (per year)
Private University (4 years): $40,476 (per year)

At the beginning of the school year university, have what they call the "rush week", or week push, where they
signed to new members. First you have to go to the fraternity house (frat house) where you make a rigorous
interview about your past, present, and your goals for the future.
There are some houses that are more houses with pool and jacuzzi. Most are located in the same campus.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Compulsory education begins at five years of age in grades one through six. Learn subjects
like English, Mathematics and Science
HIGH SCHOOL
Students enter secondary school at age 11 and is compulsory for five years. In the year 10, they begin to
prepare for the presentation of a series of exams - General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE).
Students are usually evaluated in nine or ten subjects.
A-LEVEL EXAMS
After passing GCSE examinations, students choose to leave school and start working, follow training programs
at technical colleges or two years studying for entrance exams to college - "A-Levels". On average a student
takes three to four subjects. The higher score, the better the options to colleges that the student has chosen.
UNIVERSITY DEGREES
At the undergraduate level, students in the UK take the title usually after three years and submit final exams to
graduate. For international students entry is required in English IELTS 6.0 minimum, an additional year
preparatory Year known as Pre-university or highly competitive scores in A-level exams.

ADMISSION
The universities in the United Kingdom (with the exception of The Open University) share an undergraduate
admission system which is operated by UCAS. Applications must be made by 15 October for admissions to
Oxford and Cambridge (and medicine, dentistry and veterinary science courses) and by 15 January for
admissions to other UK universities.
Many universities now operate the Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS) and all universities in
Scotland use the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) enabling easier transfer between
courses and institutions.
UNIVERSITY RANKINGS
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) ranked Yale 11th in the world in 2012. ARWU also ranked
Yale 29th in Natural Sciences and Mathematics, 76100th in Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences,

EDUCATION IN MEXICO
Education in Mexico is a right enshrined in the current constitution, which in its Article 3 states that the education
provided by the State shall be free, secular and compulsory for all inhabitants of the country. The General Law
of Education of Mexico forces who reside in Mexico to attend at least the primary, secondary and now senior
high education, and states that parents have a responsibility to ensure that their children comply with this duty ..
The Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) is the institution responsible for managing the various levels of
education in the country since September 25, 1921, date of its creation
BASIC EDUCATION
In Mexico, basic education is normally divided in three steps: primary school (primaria), comprising grades 1-6;
junior high school (secundaria), comprising grades 7-9; and high school (preparatoria), comprising grades 1012.
Depending on definitions, Primary education comprises primaria and secundaria, which are compulsory by law,
while Secondary education only includes preparatoria, which is compulsory.
PRIMARY SCHOOL
The terms "Primary School" or "Elementary School" usually corresponds to primaria, comprising grades 1-6,
when the student's age is 6 to 12 years old. It starts the basic compulsory education system.
Depending on the school, a bilingual education may be offered from the beginning, where half the day
instruction is in Spanish, and the rest is in a second language, for example, English or French.
In Spanish, the general term for "school" is escuela, but in Mexico, it is common to use escuela for state-owned
schools, which are the majority, while the term colegio (cognate with "college") is reserved for private schools,
usually charging higher tuition fees.
Despite the similarities of the words "Secondary school" and secundaria, in Mexico the former is usually
translated to preparatoria, while in other countries, such as Puerto Rico, or within the Spanish-speaking
populations of the United States, the term secundaria refers to High School.
HIGH SCHOOL
The term "High School" (United States) or gymnasium (German, Dutch systems) usually corresponds to
preparatoria or bachillerato, comprising grades 10-12, when the student's age is 15 to 18 years old. Students
may choose between 2 main kinds of high school programs: The SEP incorporated program and a University
Incorporated one, depending on the state. Other minority of programs are available only for private schools,
such as the International Baccalaureate Which carries a completely different system. Nevertheless, in order to
be taught, it must include a national subject at least.
Preparatoria traditionally consists of three years of education, divided into six semesters, with the first semesters
having a common curriculum, and the latter ones allowing some degree of specialization, either in physical
sciences (electricity, chemistry, biology, etc.) or social sciences (commerce, philosophy, law, etc.).
The term preparatoria is most commonly used for institutions that offer a three-year education program that
"prepares" the student with general knowledge to continue studying at a university. In contrast, the term
bachillerato is most often used for institutions that provide vocational training, in two or three years, so the
graduate can get a job as a skilled worker, for example, an assistant accountant, a bilingual secretary or an
electronics technician.
HIGHER EDUCATION
Higher education usually follows the US education model with an at least 4-year Bachelor's degree
undergraduate level (Licenciatura), and two degrees at the postgraduate level, a 2-year Master's degree
(Maestra), and a 3-year Doctoral degree (Doctorado). This structure of education very closely conforms to the
Bologna Process started in Europe in 1999, allowing Mexican students to study abroad and pursue a Master's
degree after Licenciatura, or a Doctoral degree after Maestra.
UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES
Undergraduate studies normally last at least 4 years, divided into semesters or quarters, depending on the
college or university, and lead to a Bachelor's degree (Licenciatura).
Although in theory every graduate of a Licenciatura is a Licenciate (Licenciado, abbreviated Lic.) of his or her
profession, it is common to use different titles for common professions such as Engineering and Architecture.
Engineer, Ingeniero, abbreviated Ing.
POSTGRADUATE STUDIES
New regulations since 2005 divide postgraduate studies at Mexican universities and research centers in two
main categories:

BRITISH INTERNET
The history of the Internet in the UK was born from political considerations, but developed to achieve technical
aims. Packet Switching was conceived in 1964, as a method for providing computer networks that would survive
the full-scale military destruction of classical communications infrastructure.
In 1968, the packed switching was started, in UK it was started at the National Physical Laboratory and called
the NPL Network.
NEWSPAPER
Britain's press can trace its history back more than 300 years, to the time of William of Orange. Berrow's
Worcester Journal, which started life as the Worcester Postman in 1690 and was published regularly from 1709,
is believed to be the oldest surviving English newspaper.
Newspaper can be classified by:
Seriousness: Traditionally, UK newspapers could be split into more serious-minded newspapers (Quality Press,
Middle Market or Popular Press).
Format: The size of a newspaper format refers to the size of the paper page; the printed area within that can
vary substantially depending on the newspaper
Frequency: Daily or Sunday.
RADIO
The UK radio market today is a product of over 80 years of radio broadcasting in the UK and 30 years of
commercial
radio
broadcasting.
BBC Radio started as local radio, partly for technical reasons, as it was not at first possible to retransmit the
same programme to different areas. The local programmes were appreciated but, by the early 1930s, as the
7 de 15
airwaves became more crowded and interference increased, the BBC abandoned local radio and the first
national and regional services were born.
Channels Include:
Five national radio stations, five digital-only stations
the BBC World service regional stations in Scotland,
Wales, Nosthern and 30 other local stations.

MOVIES
The UK cinema has had a great influence on the development of both technological and commercial and artistic
films and is one of the most respected film industries in the world.
The British film industry is characterized by an ongoing debate about its identity (including economic and
cultural) and the influences of American and European cinema.
In the 1970s and 1980s, British studios established a reputation for great special effects in films such
as Superman (1978), Alien (1979), and Batman (1989). Some of this reputation was founded on the core of
talent brought together for the filming of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) who subsequently worked together on
series and feature films for Gerry Anderson.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows fantasy film directed by David Yates and distributed by Warner Bros.
Pictures. It is the second of two cinematic parts based on the novel by J. K. Rowling. The film, which is the
eighth and final installment in the Harry Potter film series, was written by Steve Kloves and produced by David
Heyman, David Barron, and Rowling.
T.V.
English and British Television in general has often been a model for us, for the quantity and quality of programs
and productions of high quality. In Britain there are many TV channels, the five that come from the era of analog
television, BBC1, BCC2, ITV, Channel 4, Channel Five to which is added the arrival of digital television by
Rupert Murdoch's BskyB.
The digital terrestrial tv 90s born as a service offered by the company ONdigital (ITV Digital), which failed after a
few years, and replaced by the Freeview wine. The latter is a free service offered and promoted by a consortium
managed by BBC, Channel 4, ITV, BSkyB. With Freeview The BBC is the oldest and largest television
distribution company in the world, and also the largest public television service of the English nation.
Inaugurated in 1922 was made public in 1927.
Today, out of a total of 60 million TV sets, 40.8 million households (68%) have digitally linked TV sets

MAGAZINE
Magazines didn't look like that until after World War II. The first magazines, in the 1700s, looked like....books.
Magazines began as genteel soapboxes from which literate men expounded their points of view, in essay or
satire. Daniel Defoe started the first English magazine, The Review, during or just after his imprisonment for
criticizing the Church of England.
The English word magazine recalls a military storehouse of war materiel and originally was derived from the
Arabic word makhazin meaning "storehouses." The term magazine was coined for this use by Edward Cave,
editor of The Gentleman's Magazine.
INTERNET
Broadband can provide entertainment in ways that television and radio cannot. Webisodes, mini-episodes that
are not usually aired on cable television, are an example of this extension of traditional television.
9 de 15
Internet access in the United States is largely provided by the private sector and is available in a variety of
forms, using a variety of technologies, at a wide range of speeds and costs. By 2004, three quarters of
Americans had Internet access at home.
Possible advantages
Meeting important public needs: In the 21st century, Internet access is recognized as a basic
utility similar to telephones, water, and electricity. Most agree Internet access is needed in order to fully
participate in society.
Entertainment: Broadband can provide entertainment in ways that television and radio
cannot.
Economic growth: Many services have moved business onto the Internet, a shift that is
manifested through tools such as online banking, account referencing for utilities, and online library databases.
Education: Those in favor of a national broadband policy also claim that many educational
resources, including online classes and interactive learning simulations can only be found on the web. They
believe that Internet access for all is necessary to create a truly American environment of equal opportunity
NEWSPAPER
The history of American newspapers begins in the early 18th century with the publication of the first colonial
newspapers.
From 1987 to 2003 showed an industry in transition. Although 305 newspapers ceased daily publication during
this period, 64% of these newspapers continued to serve their markets as weeklies, merged dailies, or zoned
editions. The 111 dailies that went out of business were offset by 63 dailies that started publication. In effect, the
newspaper industry lost service in 48 markets during 17 years. After 2003 the process speeded up, as revenue
from advertising fell and circulation declined, as more people relied on the internet for news.
T.V.
Television is one of the major mass media of the United States. Ninety-nine percent of American households
have at least one television and the majority of households have more than one. As a whole, the television
networks of the United States are the largest and most syndicated in the world
The five major U.S. networks are NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and The CW. The first three began as radio networks:
NBC and CBS in the 1920s, and ABC was spun off from NBC in 1943. Fox is a relative newcomer that began in
1986, although it is built upon the remnants of the former DuMont Television Network.
THEATER
Theater of the United States is based in the Western tradition. Regional or resident theatres in the United States
are professional theatre companies outside of New York City that produce their own seasons.
10 de 15
The birth of professional theatre in America may have begin with the Lewis Hallam troupe that arrived in
Williamsburg, Virginia, in 1752.[citation needed] A theater was built in Williamsburg in 1716, and, in January
1736, the original Dock Street Theatre was opened in Charles Town, South Carolina. In any case. The Faster
Times, an online newspaper that began in 2009, features a weekly column that discusses issues and trends in
American theatre.
MAGAZINES
Are publications that appear on a regular schedule and contain a variety of articles.
They are financed by advertising, a purchase price, pre-paid subscriptions or sometimes all three of these
means.
TYPES OF MAGAZINES
Consumer: magazines targeting general reading audiences who are subsets of the general public with special
interests.
Trade and Professional: magazines targeting people working in trades, businesses and professional fields.
These periodicals provide news, information and how-to articles for readers working in specific industries with
advertising content.

Television in Mexico first began in August 19, 1946 in Mexico City when Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena
transmitted the first television signal in Latin America from his homes bathroom. On September 7, 1946 at 8:30
PM (CST) Mexicos and Latin Americas first experimental television station was established and was given
XE1GC call sign. It started transmitting on the following day. Mexico's first color television transmission was
carried out by Guillermo Gonzalez's XHGC Canal 5 in Mexico City.
There are six major commercial broadcast television networks in Mexico, which four are owned by Televisa
and two by TV Azteca. Televisa owned networks are Canal de las Estrellas, FOROtv, Canal 5, and Galavisin.
The TV Azteca owned networks are Azteca 7 and Azteca 13. All six networks have their flagship stations located
in Mexico, Distrito Federal.
INTERNET
The history of the internet in Mexico owes its existence to research institutions and Universities. The very
first contact with one of the networks that preceded the internet occurred in 1986, when the ITESM (Monterrey
Institute of Technology and Continuing Studies) first connected to BITNET through UT San Antonio. It was not till
June 15, 1987 that the first permanent connection was established. The very first permanent connection was a
private, four string analog line with a capacity of 9600 bits/second.
RADIO
Back in 1916, the German government gave to the then Mexican president Venustiano Carranza a 200,000Watts telegraphic radio-transmitter; it got installed on the Forest of Chapultepec (one of Mexicos Historic and
natural landmarks) before the year was over, radiotelegraphy was already regulated on Mexican constitution.
11 de 15
September 27th 1921 is an historical date to the origins of Mexican radio, for it was on this date that one of
the most important (for its era) was built on the basement of the now disappeared Ideal Theater of Mexico city
(Teatro Ideal de la Ciudad de Mexico) which gave birth to the first Mexico Radio program and broadcast.
CINEMA
During the years of the Second World War, the Mexican film industry, supported by the United States,
prospered dramatically. From 1941-1945 approximately known Mexican cinema was later called the "Golden
Age". In 1941 there were several production companies, as Filmex, World Films, Posa Films, Rodriguez
Brothers and association Bustillo Oro and Grovas. This cultural environment favored the emergence of a new
generation of directors, among which Emilio Fernndez and Fernando de Fuentes.
The theme of Mexican cinema in the 90s and early twenty-first century approaches everyday, urban violence,
existentialism, leaving behind migration, biographies and even magical realism as in the case of "Como agua
para chocolate and the reporting of corruption as "Ley de Herodes", it always aimed at film festivals.
Francisco del Toro is one of the few that stand out for Mexican filmmakers engage in production of Mexican
films that combine both the complaint of social problems, such as exploration of spiritual issues seen from the
perspective of Christian faith.
MUSIC
The music of Mexico is very diverse and features a wide range of musical genres and performance styles. It has
been influenced by a variety of cultures, most notably indigenous Mexican and European, since the Late Middle
Ages.
Mexican traditional folk music can be classified in two aspects:
By types of musical forms and styles: corrido, cancin Ranchera, Son Huasteco, Son jarocho, Mexican Danzn,
Mexican Bolero, Son istmeo, Son Jaliscience, Chilena, Son Calentano, Son Planeco, and Canto cardenche.

Ranchera is a genre of the traditional Mexican music originally sung by only one performer with a guitar. It dates
to the years of the Mexican Revolution in the early 20th century. It later became closely associated with the
mariachi groups which evolved in Jalisco. Ranchera today is also played by norteo or banda.
Corrido music is a popular narrative song of poetry form, a ballad. Various themes are featured in Mexican
corridos, and corrido lyrics are often old legends (stories) and ballads about a famed criminal or hero in the rural
frontier areas of Mexico. Some corridos may also be love stories.
Mariachi is an ensemble that consists of guitarrn, vihuela, guitar, violins and trumpets. This folk ensemble
performs ranchera, son de mariachi, huapango de mariachi, polka, corrido, and other musical forms. It
originated in the southern part of the state of Jalisco during the 19th century.
