On Monday when the teacher came in the classroom we were going to talk about the word and the quote of the day so she gave us some time in groups so we can talk about them. Our word of the week was Empathy which means the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within the other person's frame of reference, the capacity to place oneself in another's shoes. The English word is derived from Ancient Greek and the term was adapted by Hermann Lotze and Robert Vischer to create the German word Einfhlung ("feeling into"), which was translated by Edward B. Titchener into the English term empathy. Example: As an expression of her empathy, she will often apologize even when she has done nothing wrong. And our quote for the week was: We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we create them - Albert Einstein After we were going to share them to the class but we had to go to the auditorium (polideportivo) to a conference for the opening of the school year.

Journal (Study Skills)
This day we start with a task were we had to discuss in groups how did you feel about listening skills when you were at high school? then every group shared their experience. In my case when I was in high school it was easy for me because I already knew English so when the teacher was talking or explaining something in class I could understand everything she was trying to say. Sometimes we worked with audios and it was also easy for me to understand them but there were occasions were the speaking was very fast and they have a different pronunciation. An experience I had was also that there were some bad teachers and the students knew more that the teacher. However I feel really comfortable about listening skill in high school. After that we start with some PowerPoint presentation where we saw six different points about listening skill. Nature of speaking
Importance of understand the concept
Teachers must understand their learners abilities
Why do we need to develop listening skill?
If someone is giving you a opinion, you have to be able understand
in order to respond Need to have a real life meaning
Theories I consider when I develop listening skill
Keeping in mind that listening is an active process
Piaget believed that young learners constructs understanding over time
or
build
Some considerations for classroom listening
Give the children confidence
Help children develop specific strategies for listening Set specific listening task
What do I do to be more comprehensible?
Emphasize key words

Keep sentence short and grammatically simple
Limiting the topic talked about to what is familiar
Conclusion
listening is an active process
ensure comprehensible material
Finally we had a team work:
What you have learned in this lesson?
We learned that in the classroom for students is basically understand the
main idea of what the teacher is talking about and what is its purpose and for teachers to adapt the language according to the students age and knowledge, for example if the topic has to be with science dont use scientific words they are not going to know the mining or include synonyms of them so it would be easier for the students to understand.
