Tension Test (Tensile Strength Test)

-is a fundamental materials science test in which a sample is subjected to
a controlled tension until failure.
(Input image: file name tensile 1 or link
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tensile_testing#/media/File:Tensile_testing_
on_a_coir_composite.jpg)
(Explanation: The results from the test are commonly used to select a
material for an application, for quality control, and to predict how a
material will react under other types of forces. Properties that are
directly measured via a tensile test are ultimate tensile strength,
maximum elongation and reduction in area.)
Tensile Specimen
-is a standardized sample cross-section. It has two shoulders and a gage
section in between. The shoulders are large so they can be readily
gripped, whereas the gauge section has a smaller cross-section so that the
deformation and failure can occur in this area.

(Explanation: Tensile specimens made from an aluminum alloy. The left two
specimens have a round cross-section and threaded shoulders. The right two
are flat specimens designed to be used with serrated grips.)

specimens. Key:

Compression Test (Compressive Strength Test)

-is test to determine the capacity of a material or structure to withstand
loads tending to reduce size.
(Input image: file name compressive 1 or link

(Explanation: the video tells how to compressive strength test works)
Comparison of Compressive and Tensile strength
Concrete and ceramics typically have much higher compressive strengths
than tensile strengths. Composite materials, such as glass fibre epoxy
matrix composite, tend to have higher tensile strengths than compressive
strengths. Metals tend to have tensile and compressive strengths that are
very similar.

Shear Strength Test

-is a test to determine the strength of a material or component against
the type of yield or structural failure where the material or component
fails in shear.

-is a test to determine the strength of any material against in maximum
twisting force.

Beam Deflection
-is the degree to which a structural element such as beam is displaced
under a load. It may refer to an angle or a distance.
Example:
Cantilever Beams
Cantilever beams have one end fixed, so that the slope and deflection at
that end must be zero.

Centre-loaded Simple Beams
The elastic deflection midpoint of a beam, loaded at its centre, supported
by two simple supports fixed joint and roller joint.

Coefficient of Thermal Expansion

- describes how the size of an object changes with a change in
temperature. Specifically, it measures the fractional change in size per
degree change in temperature at a constant pressure.
Thermal expansion is the tendency of matter to change in shape, area, and
volume in response to a change in temperature,[1] through heat transfer.
(note: Bas ikaw ang mag report ng coefficient of thermal expansion, kaya
dagdagan mo n lng ung mga nilagay ko, gawin mung format ung mga pinag
