Enrique Rovira-Beleta Cuys.

Arquitecto titulado por la Escuela Tcnica Superior de Arquitectura
de Barcelona (1993) y usuario de silla de ruedas desde 1982.
Estudio de arquitectura iniciado en 1.994 asociado a Ana M Folch,
especialista en accesibilidad.
Experiencia de ms de 25 aos trabajando en la mejora de la
accesibilidad y la supresin de barreras arquitectnicas y en la
comunicacin con diversas instituciones, asociaciones, empresas,
universidades, fundaciones y clientes particulares, orientndose
como Consultora de Accesibilidad.
Responsable del equipo asesor tcnico en materia de Accesibilidad
integral de la Exposicin Internacional de Zaragoza 2008.
Consultor de la Accesibilidad del Forum de las Culturas Barcelona
2004 en sus construcciones efmeras.
Responsable de la Accesibilidad y la Supresin de Barreras
Arquitectnicas en el Comit organizador de los Juegos Olmpicos
y Paralmpicos de Barcelona 1992.
Autor del Libro Blanco de la Accesibilidad del Comit Olmpico
Internacional y la Fundacin Barcelona Olmpica. Publicado en
ingls; y con Mutua Universal y Ediciones UPC, publicado en

A graduate of the Barcelona School of Architecture (1993), and a

wheelchair user since 1982. In 1994 he opened an architecture
studio in association with Ana M. Folch, an accessibility specialist.
He has over 25 years experience working in improving accessibility
and eliminating architectural barriers and in communication
with various institutions, associations, companies, universities,
foundations and private clients, establishing himself as an
Accessibility Consultant.
He was the head of the technical consultation team in matters
of Integral Accessibility for the Zaragoza 2008 International
Exposition, an Accessibility Consultant for the Barcelona 2004
Forum of Cultures on its ephemeral constructions, and the
Head of Accessibility and Elimination of Architectural Barriers on
the Organizing Committee of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic and
Paralympic Games.
He is the author of the White Paper on Accessibility of the
International Olympic Committee and the Barcelona Olympic
Foundation, published in English, and published in Spanish and
Catalan with Mutua Universal and Ediciones UPC. He is also the
author, in collaboration with Ana Folch, of the Accessible Barcelona
Guide, published in Spanish and Catalan by Viena Ediciones.
He is a professor and coordinator of the Accessibility and Projects
subject at the Architecture School of the International University of
Catalonia (U.I.C.).
He is a Collaborating Professor of the Accessibility Chair and of
the Masters course in Ergonomics of the Technical University
of Catalonia (U.P.C.), and a consultant to the President of the
Government of Catalonia for attention to and social integration of
people with disabilities.
He is an expert member of the Government of Catalonias Council
for the Promotion of Accessibility and Elimination of Architectural
Barriers, and a collaborator in the drafting of this Governments new
Accessibility Regulations.
He is a representative for people with physical disabilities on the
Steering Council of the Barcelona City Councils Municipal Institute
for People with Disabilities.

La esperanza de vida de la sociedad actual aumenta

gracias a los avances mdicos y tecnolgicos, y el
colectivo de ciudadanos con discapacidades es cada
vez ms numeroso.
En Roca siempre estamos atentos a ofrecer propuestas a las nuevas demandas de la sociedad actual

personalizadas. Los espacios accesibles son aquellos
que permiten a todos, y especialmente a las personas
con una capacidad fsica o sensorial limitada, disfrutar fcilmente de todos sus elementos en adecuadas
condiciones de seguridad y autonoma.
En Roca desarrollamos nuestros productos para conseguir aplicar la accesibilidad desapercibida, aquella
que existe pero que pasa inadvertida para la mayora
de usuarios, al ser su diseo de uso habitual, normalizado y estandarizado para todos.

In present-day societies, peoples life expectancy is

increasing thanks to medical and technological progress, and the number of citizens with disabilities is
also increasing.
At Roca we are always seeking to respond to the new
demands of todays society, providing solutions that are
more flexible and adaptable to users various situations
and stages of life, their mobility and perception requirements, and the ageing of the population.
An accessible design is one that is functionally and
aesthetically adapted to its users and their real and
personalized needs. Accessible spaces are those that
allow everyone, particularly people with limited physical or sensorial capacity, to enjoy all its elements in
the appropriate conditions of comfort, safety and autonomy.
At Roca we develop our products with a view to
applying unnoticed accessibility, that which exists but
is not perceived by most users because the elements
are designed for habitual, normalized and standardized
use by everyone.
By incorporating this characteristic into the

Cada pas, o incluso cada comunidad autnoma,

tiene una legislacin propia en materia de
accesibilidad en espacios de bao.
En este documento presentamos unas pautas
mnimas generales en base a los requerimientos
de accesibilidad presentes en la mayoria de
reglamentos existentes en Espaa. Adicionalmente
se detallan una serie de recomendaciones
adicionales para mejorar la accesibilidad en los
espacios de bao.
En lo relativo a los Ser vicios Higinicos y
Vestuarios, todas las normativas priorizan
el espacio de maniobra y de acceso a cada
uno de los Sanitarios que lo conforman.
Each country, and even each region, has its own

legislation regarding accessibility in bathroom
spaces.
In this document we present a list of minimal
general guidelines based on the accessibility
requirements contained in most of the regulations
existing in Spain, along with a series of additional
recommendations for improving accessibility in
bathroom spaces.
In regard to hygiene services and changing rooms,
all the regulations give priority to maneuvering
space and access to each of the sanitary fittings
contained in these facilities.

Tienen el asiento a una altura de H de

0.85m, su parte superior, dejando libres de
obstculos 0.70 m por debajo del vaso.
La cubeta del lavabo ha de ser amplio y
el espacio que lo separa del borde ser
mnimo.

Las barras toallero se colocarn siempre
en los laterales del lavabo, para facilitar el
acercamiento frontal a ellos de Personas
con Movilidad Reducida (PMR), usuarias de

Los bajantes tendrn un diseo que

al lavabo (0,60 m), o se protegern los
bajantes metlicos de los lavabos, para
evitar posibles quemaduras en las piernas
a personas con falta de sensibilidad.

The separation between the wall and the
bar must be 4 cm.
The anchorages must be very strong.
Ideally they should be L-shaped, to
ensure that the users hand does not
unintentionally release the bar at any time.
There hidden sides must have non-slip
lining.
The bar fitted on the access side must
fold vertically and have a wall housing that
prevents collisions with the wall tiling.
The bar fitted on the other side may be
fixed or vertically folding, and must be of
the same characteristics.
