Let me introduce myself. My name is Sri Ayu Junita Sainyakit, from class X-10, SMAN 3
AMBON. Now, I would like to present my speech entitled globalization Tifa Totobuang as
exotic musical instruments of mollucas province
. In this topic, I will explain the meaning of traditional culture, the use of technology in the
spreading of culture, and the effects of the technology to the traditional culture.
Ladies and gentlemen,
before we continue to our main topic, it would be better if we know what the meaning of
traditional culture is. Traditional culture is a habit, role of life, or folkways that created by our
ancestors, generated from one generation to the next generation orally, and integrated strongly in
the local people. Generally, the local tradition is always obeyed by local people without any
shortcomings. The example of local tradition is local songs, games, folktales, myth, ceremonies,

We already know that Indonesia is a beautiful country rich in natural and cultural
wealth . There are more than 20 tribes in Indonesia and more than 100 cultures in Indonesia.

Mollucas is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has particularly cultural beauty . Mollucas
Province is famous as a province that has a variety of dances , musical instruments and other
customs
Particularly in the eastern part of Indonesia Mollucas, have typical musical instrument
called Tifa . The tifa musical instrument made of wood hollowed out in the middle and has a
shape that is almost similar to the tifa . Musical instruments tifa are divided into several types ,

Tifa Totobuang. Tifaadalah alat musik gendang dari kulit hewan dan bentuknya mirip dengan
alat musik sejenis yang tersebar di seantero Nusantara, sedangkanTotobuang adalah jajaran gong
kecil yang terbuat dari perunggu dan mengeluarkan nada berbeda-beda setiap kali dipukul.
Suara tetabuhan dan gong ini menemani alunan melodi yang disebut Sawat.
AwalnyaSawat diperkenalkan oleh para pedagang dari Timur Tengah yang datang ke Kepulauan
Maluku sambil menyebarkan agama Islam. Suara yang Anda dengar adalah perpaduan indah dari
musik Maluku dan Timur Tengah. Memang musik yang saya persembahkan ini sudah
terdengar electric; melodi aslinya berasal dari alat musik tiup seperti seruling.
Tifa totobuang merupakan alat musik yang berasal dari daerah Maluku, alat musik ini merupakan
alat musik asli yang sama sekali tidak dipengaruhi budaya luar. Musik ini merupakan musik khas
warga yang tinggal di wilayah mayoritas Kristen. Dalam beberapa pertunjukan musik ini
biasanya disandingkan dengan musik sawat, yang sebaliknya hanya dapat dimainkan oleh orangorang yang tinggal di wilayah mayoritas Muslim. Masing-masing alat musik dari Tifa totobuang
memiliki fungsi yang berbeda-beda dan salingmendukung satu sama lain hingga melahirkan
warna musik yang khas. Namun musik inididominasi oleh alat musik tifa. Terdiri dari tifa jekir,
tifa dasar, tifa potong, tifa jekir potong dan tifa bas ditambah dengan gong berukuran besar dan
totobuang, yang merupakan serangkaiangong-gong kecil yang ditaruh pada sebuah meja, dengan
beberapa lubang sebagaipenyanggahnya.Sayangnya musik nan indah ini, sekarang sangat jarang
kita nikmati. Bahkan dapat dikatakanlangkah. Musik ini hanya dapat dipertunjukan pada eventevent tertentu. Misalnya acara penyambutan tamu khusus, pertunjukan kesenian daerah Maluku
diluar daerah atau di luar negeri serta pada acara-acara adat. Pemainnya pun umumnya
merupakan pemain yang diajarkan secara turun-temurun oleh orang tua mereka.
