FREDERICKSBURG POLICE INCIDENTS

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 31, 2010

ABDUCTION:

3000 block Fall Hill Ave, 3/29 12:00 pm. A High School senior was walking home from
school when she was approached by an elderly male who offered her a ride in his car. The
female accepted, and once inside the vehicle the male started asking her personal questions
which quickly became sexual in nature. The male pulled over onto the side of the road, locked
the doors, and fondled the teenager. The victim was able to open the passenger door and run to
her home. The suspect was later identified and arrested. John Sinnett, 85, of Spotsylvania has
been charged with abduction with the intent to defile (felony). Sinnett is incarcerated at the
Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

ASSAULT:

Spirits, 816 Caroline St, 3/30 9:55 pm. A Stafford resident reported that a male subject argued
with him inside the business and at one point pulled out a large knife and slammed the blade
into the bar, narrowly missing the victim’s hand. Police responded and the assailant was still
on the scene. A large buck knife was found in his possession and a fresh cut mark was located
on the bar in the location that the victim described. Joel Edlund, 43, of Spotsylvania was
arrested for public intoxication and attempted malicious wounding. Edlund was incarcerated at
the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

LARCENY:

Medicorp, 1001 Sam Perry Blvd, 3/26 – 3/29 7:30 am. An employee reported that a number of
metal specimen boxes were stolen from outside doctor’s offices. No suspects or witnesses at
this time.

Way Back When, 705 Caroline St, 3/1 – 3/30 12:30 pm. A store owner reported that a male
subject brought items into his store to sell, and the store owner suspected the items had been
stolen from Way Back When. The store owner purchased the items and contacted police. The
merchandise was then confirmed to have been stolen. Warrants were obtained for Louis
Newman, 36, of Spotsylvania charging him with fraud and receiving stolen property. Newman
had not been arrested by the time of this report.

Arby’s, 2386 Plank Rd, 3/30 8:15 pm. The manager reported that a headset device was stolen
from the counter by one of a group of four male subjects. The investigation is ongoing.

VANDALISM:

800 block White St, 3/30 5:15 pm. A resident reported that a window was broken on the front
side of his home. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Sport and Health, 1191 Central Park Blvd, 3/30 5:45 pm. An employee reported that his
vehicle was scratched and damaged by a sharp object. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

HIT AND RUN:

1900 block Fall Hill Ave, 3/31 1:55 am. An off-duty Spotsylvania deputy arrived on the scene
of a just occurred motor vehicle accident involving a Chrysler sedan and a parked car. The
deputy witnessed a male subject running from the scene. The deputy called City police and
then assisted by attempting to track the fleeing driver. The offending driver was not located,
but the suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
