CHRISTMAS LANTERN

II.

Miguel T. Vargas
Abstract:
This project is about making a
Christmas lantern using mainly abaca fibers
as the main material to it. It has a lighting
using three light bulbs connected in series
with a switch and has an ac source.
Index of terms:

Abacca fiber This is the main

material used in making the desired
output.
Lantern This is the objective to
make Christmas decorations using
abacca fibers.
Series circuit the lighting of the
output was in series circuit this
means that if one bulb us busted the
others will not light up also.
Recyclable material - The secondary
materials used in constructing the
lantern was recyclable.
I.
Introduction
In line to the forthcoming
Christmas day this project
focuses about the production of
Christmas lantern made of
mainly Abbace fibers and other
recyclable material. Due to the
rapid climate change brought by
unhealthy human acts, especially
too much waste material that
takes a long time to decompose.
The materials that will be used
should be help in making our
environment clean and green. In
accordance to the subject the
lantern should have a lighting
that is efficient and ecofriendly.
The lanterns would be hanged all
over the college of engineering
building to a decoration.

Significance of study
The study is a requirement to
pass the subject so it is essential
to make a very good lantern. This
also aims to give the spirit of
Christmas but more importantly
this gives the students the
opportunity to design their own
circuit lighting and apply what
theyve learned in their years of
study. It is also a ecofriendly
project because the materials are
recyclable material and not
harmful for the environment.
The Problem
The problem is to make a
Christmas lantern using mainly
abacca fibers and other
recyclable materials. The finish
product should have a lighting
that is efficient, ecofriendly and
safe. Above all, it should have
the spirit of Christmas in it.
Scope and limitation
The project aims to use
abaca fibers only as the main
material for the lantern, but other
recyclable materials would do.
The length should not exceed 1.0
m. Christmas lights and LED
strips are not allowed as lighting.

Methodology
Barbeque sticks were used to
make three cube boxes that has a
different sizes. The theme of the
lantern is Christmas gift. The
lighting is consisted by three
light bulbs that are series to each
other with a switch to add
safeness.

Data Analysis and Discussion

Four LED bulbs was use to
light the lantern and is connected in
an AC source. The power rating of
each bulb is 1.5 w so the total power
consumed is 4.5 w. It was connected
in series connection and switch was
place in the output.
This picture is the final output

Conclusion
Therefore the said output is
efficient in the way that LED bulbs
were used to light the lantern. And it
is suitable for the coming Christmas
day. The outputs from the class will
be hanged around the 4th floor of the
Engineering building. This will be
essential for the completion of
requirements in the said subject.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I would like to thank our instructor for

letting us apply the knowledge we have learned
in our years of study. This was only one of the
few projects that we have applied actually the
things that were thought to us theoretically. I
would also like to thank my parents for funding
this project and helping me in designing the
lantern.
