I. Hypothesis

The topic of my research is physically forced sex on individual persons and its effects on

race and sex. The sex of the respondents is my independent variable and the race of

respondents is my control variable. Respondents who were physically forced to have sex

are more likely to be females. Thus, meaning more female respondents would have

experienced a situation with someone who physically forced themselves upon them

(consential or non-consential) rather than the male respondents.

For my multivariate hypothesis, the control variable of race is introduced. The values for

race are whites and blacks (non-whites). More female respondents who were physically

forced to have sex are more likely to be white than black respondents. In this, more

physically forced sex victims would be white females rather than black females.
Richardson 3

II. Rationale

My bivariate hypothesis states, respondents who were physically forced to have sex are

more likely to be females. Males in America are the least likely to be physically forced to

do anything. Males who are physically forced to have sex are usually raped while

incarcerated. Females are more likely to be put in a situation when a male tries to

establish his dominance through force. Females tend to be more acceptable, meaning the

female sex is more willing to accept the situation of someone forcing themselves on

them.

More female respondents who were physically forced to have sex are more likely to be

white than black. White females tend to be more passive than black females. In this

meaning white females will not fight as hard as a black female when put in such a

situation. The white female is portrayed as this delicate being. The black female is

portrayed as a lioness, someone who protects against whoever at any cost. More white

females are subjected to physically forced sex than black females.

IV. Discussion

In Table 1, describes the relationship between people physically forced to have sex by

their gender. 5 percent of respondents who were physically forced to have sex were

female respondents. 4.9 percent of respondents who were physically forced to have sex

were male. 45.4 percent of respondents who have never been physically forced to have

sex were female. 43.0 of males who never have been physically forced to have sex were

male. More female respondents have been physically forced to have sex than male

respondents.

My bivariate hypothesis states respondents who were physically forced to have sex are

more likely to be females. My bivariate analysis and hypothesis are the same. 4.9 percent

of males were physically forced to engage in sex and 5 percent of females were

physically forced to have sex. There are more females by 1 percent. The percentage is

close but the female respondents still had more cases.

In Table 2, the relationship between people physically forced to have sex by their gender,

controlled by the respondent’s race. The values for race are whites and blacks (non-

Whites). 5.3 percent of black female respondents were physically forced to have sex. 5.2

percent of black male respondents were physically forced to have sex. 45.7 percent of

black female respondents were not physically forced to have sex. 41.9 percent of black

male respondents were not physically forced to have sex. 4.7 percent of white female

respondents were physically forced to have sex . 4.5 percent of white male respondents
Richardson 7

were physically forced to have sex. 45.3 percent of white female respondents were not

physically forced to have sex. 44.3 percent of white male respondents were not physically

forced to have sex.

My multivariate hypothesis states more female respondents who were physically forced

to have sex are more likely to be white than black. The multivariate analysis and

hypothesis is different. More female respondents who were physically forced to have sex

were black. 5.3 percent of female respondents who were physically forced to have sex

were black. 4.7 percent of respondents who were physically forced to have sex were

white. More black female respondents were physically forced to have sex than white

females.
