The name has changed to Learning
Disability Board
A first draft of a work plan was shared
Karen has been given the role of cochair
Amanda Wadsworth from the
Department for Work and Pensions
came and is looking to take forward the
employment work
Green paper: Forums to focus
campaigning efforts of self-advocacy

Transforming Care Board


Alistair Burt the Minister chairs this
meeting
Scott Watkin has just got the role of cochair
Stronger family and self-advocate board
membership
Remit for Forum reps: Leadership,
Intelligence, Challenge
NHS Fast Track Programme in six areas
and Care and Treatment Reviews

Ministerial Roundtable
Over 400 people responded to the consultation.
The 4 key points are

1.We need more services in the community


2.People with learning disabilities and families
should be better involved in discussions.
3.Joint commissioning between health and social
care. (working together)
4.Increasing transparency and accountability.
Making sure we can all see everything
organisations are doing and we can challenge if
things are not going well.

Forum for People with Learning
Disabilities & the National Valuing
Family Forum in Manchester.

Talk to the person with the
learning disability and not their
families.

Have a buddy system in place


this is someone to help people
with learning disabilities feel
relaxed and comfortable when
they attend the hospital or go to
there doctors/ dentists for an
appointment.

Treat people with learning


disabilities with respect.
Listen to us.
Give us time to explain what is
wrong with us.
Don't use jargon word.
Booklets to explain things, like
what the NHS is and what it does.

learning disabilities help train your staff.
