All these pings were run from a computer located in the U.S. What happens to the average ping time in
milliseconds when data is traveling within the same continent (North America) as compared to data from North
America traveling to different continents?
Cuando se realiza el ping a dentro del mismo continente los tiempos de respuesta son menores a los tiempos de
respuesta que cuando se realiza a otro continente debido que tiene que pasar por varios ISP y routers para poder llegar
a su destino. Generalmente no todos los ISP tienen la misma sincronizacin de tiempos de respuestas.

What is interesting about the pings that were sent to the European website?
Las solicitudes de Time Out probablemente caducaron porque ambos continentes no acceden con a sus sitios
habitualmente y los ISP pueden que no conozcan las rutas para alcanzar cada uno.

Trace a Route to a Remote Server Using Tracert

What happens at hop 7? Is level3.net the same ISP as hops 2-6, or a different ISP? Use the whois tool to answer
this question.
En el salto 7 el paquete cambia de ubicacin, el ISP no es el mismo que en el 2-6.

What happens in hop 10 to the amount of time it takes for a packet to travel between Washington D.C. and
Paris, as compared with the earlier hops 1-9?
El tiempo de respuesta del paquete aumenta porque las distancias son mas largas y elm paquete viaja a otro
continente.

What happens in hop 18? Do a whois lookup on 168.209.201.74 using the whois tool. Who owns this network?
El paquete da un salto a otro continente en este caso Sudafrica por tal motivo los tiempos de respuesta aumentan.

Type tracert www.lacnic.net.

What happens in hop 7?

El salto 7 se mueve de Canada a Estados Unidos por tal motivo de aumentan los tiempos de respuesta.

3. Trace a Route to a Remote Server Using Web-Based and SoftwareTools

Use a web-based traceroute tool.
Use http://www.subnetonline.com/pages/network-tools/online-tracepath.php to trace the route to the following websites:

Capture and save the output in Notepad.

How is the traceroute different when going to www.cisco.com from the command prompt (see Part 2) rather
than from the online website? (Your results may vary depending upon where you are located geographically,
and which ISP is providing connectivity to your school.)
En el smbolo del sistema, no hay demasiados saltos para llegar a www.cisco.com. Utilizando la pgina web en lnea es
demasiados saltos y el dispositivo no puede realizar un seguimiento de la misma.

Compare the tracert from Part 1 that goes to Africa with the tracert that goes to Africa from the web interface.
What difference do you notice?
El tracert de la parte 1 es mucho ms largo y tom ms tiempo para procesar el viaje a frica que el tracert interfaz
basada en web. Que es mucho ms corta y toma menos tiempo.

Some of the traceroutes have the abbreviation asymm in them. Any guesses as to what this means? What is its
significance?

asymm "significa el la ruta del salto Esto suele suceder cuando hay algn enlace en una direccin atascado o la
arquitectura de red enruta caminos diferentes para las diferentes direcciones. El nmero despus asymm muestra el
grado de asimetra (es decir, cuntos saltos son diferentes).

4. Compare Traceroute Results

List the path to www.cisco.com using tracert.

List the path to www.cisco.com using the web-based tool on subnetonline.com.

List the path to www.cisco.com using VisualRoute Lite edition.

Did all the traceroute utilities use the same paths to www.cisco.com? Explain.
No todos los servicios pblicos de tracert utilizan las mismas trazas ya que el origen de la traza se puede realizer
desde cualquier IPS dependiendo de donde este alojado geogrficamente el aplicativo pblico de trecert. De cualquier
tracert publico se le hace una consulta de tracert a www.cisco.com y los salto no van a ser iguales la nica IP igual
para todos va a ser la IP de la pgina de CISCO.COM.
