This event will support IEFTâ s mission to provide quality secondary education to i
ndigenous children in rural Tanzania. IEFT empowers children to positively trans
form their own lives, improve their communities and break the cycle of extreme p
overty, while preserving their culture and traditions.
Ashley Holmer co-founded IEFT with Peter Luis of Fresno, California in 2005 when
they witnessed the limited educational opportunities faced by Tanzanian childre
n. Inspired by the intense motivation of the students in and around Monduli Dist
rict, Tanzania and the lack of secondary schools in the area, they embarked on a
mission to create change. Alongside the villagers of Lashaine and the local gov
ernment, IEFT built and opened Orkeeswa Secondary School, to provide quality edu
cation thatâ s affordable for families in rural Tanzania. Currently, the school edu
cates 80 students each year and continues expanding the facilities to enroll 240
students each year after buildout is complete. Funds raised from this event wil
l support ongoing school expansion and operations.
