Improvement

Expand CSP Replacement to 10K Entries

Change Request Number: CR00005289

Description
The Carrier Select Prefix Replacement translation table, formerly supporting a maximum of 250 defined entries, can now
support at least 10000 entries.
Implementation
The Carrier Selection Prefix (CSP) Replacement functionality
is extended to support at least 10000 entries in the translation table. In addition, an option to replace digit strings
in Destination Addresses that have Type Of Number set to
International has been implemented. The availability of this
new function is controlled by the definition of a new logical.
Detailed Overview: The Carrier Selection Prefix Replacement
functionality allows for replacement of an arbitrary number
of digits at the start of a Destination Address. Subsequent
routing and related functions use the resulting Destination
Address. The CSP prefixes and translation strings are defined
in a configuration file named PLMN_CSP_TRANS.CNF , located
in the SMSC$ROOT:[DATA] directory. The maximum length of the
prefixes and replacement strings is 20 digits.
CSP will only translate addresses that are specified with
a Number Plan Indication of Unknown or Telephony (i.e.,
ISDN/telephone (e164/e163)).

CSP on International Numbers: The original CSP functionality did not support translation of prefixes of Destination
Addresses that were received with Type Of Number (TON) set to
International. CSP only worked for Destination Addresses that
were specified with TON set to Unknown. A new configurable option, controlled by logical SMSC46_EXTENDED_CSP_FEATURE, allows
for prefix translation with TON set to International.
The specification of this type of replacement in the CSP configuration file requires the International Prefix and the
Country Code to be included in the prefix. The following example gives an excerpt of a CSP configuration file that defines
a full set of translations for a specific range of Destination
Addresses, in this case all Subscriber Numbers that start with
6107:
6107
96107
!unknown number translation
06107
096107
!unknown number translation
00316107 003196107 !international number translation
The last line defines a valid translation for a Destination
Address with TON set to International. The International Prefix
is 00 and the Country Code is 31. If a Mobile User specifies
the Recipient Address as an International address, +31610765359
will be translated to 00319610765359.
Moreover, independent of the setting of the logical, if a
Mobile User specifies the Recipient Address as an Unknown
address, the string 0031610765359 will be translated to
00319610765359.
New Messages: The number of entries in the CSP configuration
file may now exceed the earlier limit of 250 entries. The new
limit is imposed by system memory constraints. If the number of
entries exceeds 10000, then, when the CSP configuration file is
read at initialisation of SIWPLMN, SIWTDMA or SIWCDMA entities,
a warning message about possible memory exhaustion is issued.
The CSP functionality will remain active.

If there are no entries defined, then, when the CSP configuration file is read at initialisation of SIWPLMN, SIWTDMA or
SIWCDMA entities, an error message is printed and CSP will not
be activated.

Installation

1. Copy the new executables to the BIN directory with the following commands:
$ COPY SIWGSM.EXE_V501S SMSC$ROOT:[BIN]SIWGSM.EXE
$ COPY SIWTDMA.EXE_V501O SMSC$ROOT:[BIN]SIWTDMA.EXE
$ COPY SIWCDMA.EXE_V501N SMSC$ROOT:[BIN]SIWCDMA.EXE
2. Copy the updated help file to the HELP directory with the
following command:
$ COPY SMSCMSGHELP.HLB_V501Y SMSC$ROOT:[HELP]SMSCMSGHELP.HLB
3. Operators who do not have previous installation of the CSP
functionality are requested to install and edit the CSP
configuration file in the DATA directory.
WARNING: Executing the following command alters the current
CSP configuration.
$ COPY SMSC$ROOT:[DATA]PLMN_CSP_TRANS_TEMPLATE.CNF SMSC$ROOT:[DA
TA]PLMN_CSP_TRANS.CNF
4. If the translation of Destination Addresses with TON set
to International is desired, the new functionality can be
switched ON by defining the new logical SMSC46_EXTENDED_CSP_
FEATURE as follows:
$ DEFINE /SYSTEM SMSC46_EXTENDED_CSP_FEATURE "ON"
5. The logical should also be added to SMSC$ROOT:[SCRIPTS]SMSC_
COMMON.COM in order to be defined after a system reboot.
To switch off this functionality, the logical should be
deassigned.
6. Restart all SIWPLMN, SIWTDMA and SIWCDMA entities one by
one, and verify whether there are no signals of errors in
the configuration file.
