Background
People always used chemical products in their daily life, such as food, pharmaceutical, and in
daily products. Until now, products that dominate the market is chemical based products.
Along with the spread of environmental issues, the making and development of eco-friendly
and sustainable products become one solution to solve this issues caused by the usage of
chemical product. Eco-friendly products can be a product that entirely made from natural
resources, or can be a chemical products that the production was supported by natural
resources. As for sustainable products, it is defined as product that made from eco-friendly
resources or product that the usage of it does not demage the ecosystem.
In terms of economy, sustainable products nowaday have higher price than other chemical
based products. This higher price make the society to lose their interest in buying sustainable
products. A lot of people do not know the benefit of using this sustainable products in
application of daily life.
Through this CPDC event, we want to build the sense of entrepreneurship in students so
students can make and become the solution of global issues by introducting idea about
chemical products that sustainable to the society, so people will know about the benefit of
eco-friendly products. And we hope that in the future, this idea could be developed into
comercialize products.
Activity
Chemical Product Design Competition (CPDC) is one of the competitions that will be held on
the events of PetroGas Days UI 2015. The participants must make a product which is related
to the theme Building Entrepreneurship through Development of Sustainable Chemical
Products For Daily Life . Brief explanation and limitations about the theme will be
exposition in the subsquent :
Brief Explanation
1 Daily life
The resulting products are products used in everyday life, such as in the field of food &
beverage, household appliances, pharmaceutical etc.
2 Sustainable
The resulting product is made from environmentally friendly or recyclable materials. It
contains aspects of the selection process innovation preformance of raw materials and
manufacturing process.
3. Entrepreneurship
In building the spirit of entrepreneurship, customized products made by consumer needs that
can be known market analysys of the product. In addition this product is made with a
manufacturing process that is easy to apply to be on the scale up to the scale of production.
Limitations
1 The Products Have to be Chemical Products.
The product that use chemicals process in its manufacturing and has a specific purpose.
Example: food products, beverages, pharmaceutical, household needs.
The instrument can produce chemical changes
Example: medical equipment, water purifier, waste treatment plant, etc.
2 The Product Concepts Have to Implement Sustainable Concept
The products are made from materials that can be recycled.
The products are environmentally friendly, which in terms of the manufacture and handling
of waste products do not have the effect of polluting the environment.
The products are healthy, where the proposed sustainable products have no particular effect
on the human body.
3 The Products are Economical
The proposed products have a certain value or change in value of the raw materials used
Economically valuable products, so it can be commercialized and sold to the general public
The Products can be manufactured on a large scale
The products have a good design in terms of components, form, safety, resilience, and
interesting.
The products have the potential to become an independent industrial business.

Abstract Selection
Stage I is the selection of the abstracts, in this stage all participants make an abstract
describing the product to be submitted. At this step the participants also registers on the
website of PGD and eligible by the Committee. The collection of abstracts uploaded to the
website of PGD. Abstracts will be evaluated only if the participant has failed to meet the
registration requirements such as upload all documents and make payment. Abstract
collection schedule is from October 1 October 31, 2014. Abstract terms can be seen in the
appendix. At this stage will be taken 30 teams to proceed to the next stage and the stage will
be announced through the website and email the PGD for each participant. Abstract selection
stage announcement on date: 30 November 2014

Paper Selection
At this stage the participants make a paper containing details of the designed product.
Manufacture of paper must apply the product designing concept. Papers should be submitted
to the website of PGD. Deadline of collected paper is: 30 November 2014 18 January
2015. Provision of paper can be seen in the appendix. The results of the paper selection will
be announced on February 9th, 2015. From papers selection stage, 10 teams will be selected
to advance to the final stage.

Final
The final stage consists of 3 parts: a video competition, exhibition, and final presentation
1)Video Competition
Video competition is one of the competitions in the CPDC for the 10 teams
that advanced to the final stage, each team made a video presentation or
publish or advertise the products are designed. The duration of the video with
is 3 minutes. Videos uploaded to the YouTube website and YouTube account
Petrogas Days and signifies account UI. Than also include a teaser video of

4. For the exhibition, participants are required to prepare all the things that have been
determined (prototype, x-banners and authentic evidence of market testing in the form of
video)
5. The participants are required to make abstracts, papers and presentations according to the
terms of writing that has been predetermined (see Appendix Section)
6. Total number of page papers and word of abstract should not pass the specified limits (see
Appendix Section)
7. Presentation of each participant at the grand final should not pass the specified time (15
minutes)
8. Participants should wear almamater jacket of their institution at the time of the exhibition
and at the grand final
Punishments (according to the rules number)
1. Participants will be disqualified from the competition
2. Participants will receive points reduction, with the following provisions
Overdue abstract submission will get point reduction as much as 5 points (of total
early version
Overdue banner, presentation, and market testing video submission will get reduction
as much as 10 points (of total 100) for Grand Final scoring and the participants have
to print their own banner.
Not participate in video competition will get reduction as much as 15 points (of total
Not bringing prototype at the exhibition will get reduction as much as 15 points (of
total 100) at the Grand Final.
6. Exceeding pages of paper will not be counted as paper content. The assessment will be
done only for the first 50 pages of body section and first 20 pages of appendix.

First winner of 7th CPDC will get a cash prize of US$ 1,000

Each grand finalist will get sertificate
Finalists with product concepts that are considered attractive by industry or investors,
