Most of us have had some experience with self-improvement

efforts. My experience has taught me this about how people
and organizations improve: the best place to look is for small
changes we could make in thing we do often. There is power in
steadiness and repetition. And if we can be led by inspiration to
choose the right small things to change, consistent obedience
will bring great improvement.

Unique and original logos to fit a company or personal image.

I created these logos for my personal design business.

October 2015

COURSE/INSTRUCTOR:

Comm 160 Section 11/Emily Kunz

PROGRAM/TOOLS:
Adobe Illustrator

OBJECTIVES:
Using Adobe Illustrator, create new and unique logo designs

PROCESS:

I first sketched about a half dozen logo ideas and just played
around with design and tried to come up with something
clever yet professional. I also looked at a variety of quality
logos for inspiration. I then went into Illustrator to create
three of the ideas that I liked. I choose three different color
schemes for each logo for variety and fun. Typography is
an important element in logo design also. I used contrast
and white space to make the design work. Using the pen
tool, brushes, pathfinder, color, the rotation tool, etc. I
put together the logos and then sought out the opinions
of friends and other designers.give me feedback on their
favorites.

PROGRAM/TOOLS:
Adobe Photoshop

OBJECTIVES:

Show skill in using Adobe Photoshop in creating a montage

with a spiritual theme.

PROCESS:

I first sketched several ideas to go with several possible

quotes. I used three images imported into Photoshop and used
layer masks to bled the images, used Gaussian Blur on parts
of the background image, used Roman hanging punctuation
in the text so that the lettering on the left would align. The
Saviors words and his subdued image lets us know that as
we serve one another, we are showing our love for Him. The
background image is a field of wheat that is white, ready to
harvest - symbolic of missionary work. The sister missionary
has a sincere, focused countenance that indicates action to
the Saviors plea.

PROGRAM/TOOLS:
Adobe Photoshop, Canon Rebel XT

OBJECTIVES:

Display photographic skills and use of Photoshop

PROCESS:

Using the early morning light, I took a series of photographs

at a park near my home. I liked the design of the reflection
of the bird, rock and branch in the water. It had an oriental
serenity. I was grateful to the little bird for so patiently
posing for me. I added the transluent bars on the right and
the repitetion of the dots to add balance and design to the
quote.

PROGRAM/TOOLS:
Microsoft Word

OBJECTIVES:

Create an eye catching, appealing event ad

PROCESS:

I first found this wonderful image, a painting by one of my

favorite artists, James Christensen. This image inspired the
idea for a Shakespeare Festival that would benefit illiterate
adults to learn reading, writing and job skills. I did several
small sketches of possible layouts, scanned the image from a
book on my home copier/scanner at 150 dpi, and used Word
to design the layout incorporating design principles such as
repetition, contrast, alignment, whitespace, etc. The image
is a painting by James Christensen, Judith, from his book,
The Art of James Christensen: A Journey of the Imagination,
page 55. The original size of the image in the book was 6x8.5
inches. This was scanned on an Epson WorkForce 635 in my
home.

InDesign
OBJECTIVES:

Create a flier that will catch the interest of graduate students

interested in business leadership.

After reading the content provided by the client, and

understanding the message and the audience that we wanted
to reach, I sketched multiple layouts ideas for this project.

this layout in InDesign. I used contrast in the header with an
emphasis on Graduate Leadership, black boxes were used for
repetition, the gray box that contained the Place, Date and
