Web Page
Description

This week we have had the chance to make a webpage for our logo we created a
few weeks ago. I really enjoyed learning HTML and CSS. I know it will help me in
the future with the business I will be opening. This webpage will also show future
clients my basic ability to create a webpage.

Programs

The tools I used to create this logo are Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator with
focus on the pen tool.

ObjectiveProcess

I learned so much in this assignment it is hard to choose just one top thing. I
learned that while coding looks scary at first, it is really just a matter of being
extremely detail oriented. If you are patient and dont let yourself get frustrated
you can really create a beautiful webpage with HTML and CSS.

Logo
Description

I created this logo for my future business. I wanted this logo to be crafty and look
like a homemade item that a customer could create with the products I will be
selling in the store.

Programs

For this project I started with some sketches and a photograph of a quilt block
that I created to use as my logo for my craft store. I used the skills I have learned
in Adobe Illustrator including the pen tool to trace the outline of the pear in
the photograph. I then created the stem and the leaf with the same technique. I
added the dashed outline on the pear to make it look like stitches. I then chose
the text font and colors.

The message I want to present is one of creativity. I want people to see the
logo and know that they can find the items they will need to create beautiful
crafts in the store.

Objective Process

This week I think the top thing that I learned was in Photoshop. I really struggled
with cutting out my image, but finally after watching several videos on YouTube
I think I figured it out. The color scheme I chose was Complimentary, Red and
Green were the colors. This brochure is for all to see just what the Arroyo Grande
Strawberry Festival is all about. It gives a brief but imaginative list of what
the Strawberry Festival brings for entertainment, food and family fun to the
Central Coast of California.

Letterhead
Description

Stationery for a business including a new logo.

Programs

For this project I started with sketching out some ideas and I chose my colors
and my font. I then went into InDesign and began creating the size and style of
the letterhead. I created a basic mock up for review and based upon the critiques
I made several changes to the original design including changing the font.

The message I was creating for this project was to help brand the business
Banner Bliss. For the project I created the logo to show the fun aspect of banners
along with making sure those who saw it would understand that the banners
were being handmade. The audience would be anyone who would like to have a
handcrafted banner made for a party or event. The color scheme for this project
was Big Split Complimentary- Gold, Red, Blue, Green.

Montage
Description

Spiritual Montage poster using images and type.

Programs

I started with a whole different design idea in mind. Since I was unable to make
the idea work I went back to the sketching of this new design. I selected a
theme with a saying and then went to find the photographs that would work
in the new design. I placed them one at a time adding layers of detail and
feathering to keep them from having rough edges. I chose the font because it
worked well with the magnitude of the message and I added drop shading to
help it stand out.

Event Ad
Description

Event Ad created with a scanned picture in Word

Programs

I started looking for an appropriate picture in a magazine and I wasnt having

any luck, so I went to my quilt magazines and there I found this cute picture of a
little girl covered in a quilt. I thought it would be very fitting for a fundraiser of
a quilt raffle and silent auction. I had to decide what the fundraiser would be for
and Quilts for Cassie came to mind. Cassie is my 27 year old niece who actually
has FOP. We use to have a live auction fundraiser for her when she was younger.

It is very hard to place text on top of colors and patterns. I tried using text boxes
and then after my critiques I learned how to make them translucent. Upon
advice from Sister Kunz I placed a larger text box at the bottom third of the Ad
so the font would be more legible. The message I was trying to get across was a
fundraiser for a rare autoimmune disease. I scanned the original photo from a
magazine and created the whole flyer in Word.

Flyer
Description

Black and White Flyer for Leadership Conference

Programs

I started with sketching out four different ideas then went into InDesign and
began to create the layout. I used a deep gray for the foundation column
and then added the photograph and text boxes in a lighter gray to offset
them from the rest of the flyer. I put the copy text on the white background
to be easily read and to give some diagonal flow to the flyer. I then placed
the logo and website text at the bottom to balance and give some weight
to the overall design.

This flyer is meant for graduating students who may be interested in going
to a seminar to help them get ahead in business. This was my first project in
Visual Media and I can really see how much I have grown as a designer since
the begining of the semester. I have learned so much, and I know if I were to
repeat this assignment now, knowing what I know, I would do much better.
