Duo Melis

Susana Prieto and Alexis Muzurakis
made their debut as the Guitar Duo
Melis in 1999 at the International
Guitar Festival of Volos (Greece). Since
then they have performed in such
prestigious halls as the Philharmonie
in Berlin, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Megaron in Athens and
the Merkin Concert Hall in New York.
They have been invited to play concerts
and give master classes in international guitar festivals in Europe
and America. Since 2005 they teach at the Conservatoire National de
Rgion de Strasbourg.
In 2003 Susana and Alexis recorded their first CD after winning
the recording prize Citta di Verona at the International Chamber
Music Competition Gaetano Zinetti (Italy). In 2005 they successfully
auditioned for the Yehudi Menuhin Society Live Music Now.
The Guitar Duo Melis has collaborated with international orchestras like the Berliner Symphoniker, the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie, the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie, the Radio Orchestra of
Bucharest and the National Orchestra of Thessaloniki conducted by
Leo Brouwer.
Their wide repertory spans from baroque music to the music of
A. Piazzolla and A. Ginastera. As well as their modern concert guitars
they use period instruments to perform the XIX century repertory and
they devote themselves to historical researches on the performing
praxis of that period.

The guitar and bandoneon duo, Giampaolo Bandini - Cesare Chiacchiaretta,


was founded in 2002 with the precise
aim to present the music coming from
Argentina through the charm and
fascination of its most representative
instruments.
Invited by the most important festivals
and theatres all over the world, the duo
gained everywhere an extraordinary
approval of audience and critics. They had the big honour to play the
Double Concerto Hommage a Liegi by Astor Piazzolla conducted by
Maestro Leo Brouwer in Auditorium Paganini of Parma and for Unione
Musicale of Turin with the well-known chamber orchestra I Virtuosi di
Mosca, conducted by Pavel Berman.
In 2004, the duo wins the Award Beniamino Joppolo Citt di
Patti (Messina) for the great artistic values reached in the music field.
In 1995, the duo had its debut in the prestigious Great Hall of San
Petersburg Philharmonic, gaining such a big success to be immediately
invited the following two years. Their specific feature to live the music
with no borders brings them work together with world-known artists
and musicians.
Their first CD, Hombres de Tango was sold in more than ten
thousand copies and has been welcomed with great enthusiasm from
the specialized critics.
As teachers, besides being invited by the most famous Academies
and Universities, they regularly teach in the Institutes of High Education Luigi Boccherini in Lucca and Tito Schipa in Lecce and in the
summer Festivals of Gubbio and Portogruaro.

Harold Gretton

Born in 1965, Gerhard Reichenbach


is considered by experts and the
international press as one of the
leading European guitar virtuosos
of his generation. His solo performances and appearances together with
orchestras are highlights of classical
guitar performance and his playing is
compared with masters of the guitar
like A. Segovia and John Williams.
He studied guitar at the Cologne Music Academy/department Wuppertal with Prof. Dieter Kreidler and at the Athens Conservatory with
Kostas Kotsiolis. His debut performance was a solo recital in Dusseldorf at the age of 15.
Since then until now Gerhard has an important and very successful carrier, being invited for solo recitals to places like the Berliner
Philharmonie, the Saal Bulgaria, Sofia, the Megaro Mousikis in
Thessaloniki (Greece), the Philharmonics of Tallinn, Tartu and Parnu
(Estland), the Gavle Philharmonic (Sweden), the Forum Gitarre Vienna,
and many more.
In 2000, the celebrational year of J.S.Bach, he gave a three
weekend lecture about the lute works by J.S. Bach. In this lecture he
analyzed and performed all the lute works on the classical guitar.
Apart from giving master classes and lessons, Gerhard Reichenbach taught from 1994 up to 2000 at the Guitar Department of the
Music Academy Franz Liszt in Weimar.

The Guitar Duo Ana-Maria IORDACHE


- Mihaela IORDACHE is the laureate of
the sixth edition International Guitar
Chamber Music Competition.
Ana-Maria Iordache is studying
guitar with professor Eugen Mang since
she was 6 years old. Ana-Maria has won
numerous national and international
competitions, including first prize in
the 2006 Andres Segovia European
Competition for Young Guitarists (Velbert, Germany), first prize in the
2002, 2003, 2005 and 2006 Sinaia International Guitar Festival (Romania), first prize in the 2006 Transilvania International Guitar Festival
(Romania), first prize in the 2008 Targu-Mures International Guitar
Competition (Romania).
Mihaela Iordache is also studying guitar with professor Eugen
Mang since she was 9 years old. Her talent was acknowledged during
numerous competitions, like Alba-Iulia Guitar Festival (second prize,
2003 and 2006), Sinaia International Guitar Festival (third prize, 2000
and 2003), Garabet Avachian National Performance Competition (third
prize, 2003).
The two sisters attended the master classess of Alvaro Pierri
(Uruguay), Costas Cotsiolis (Greece), Thomas Kirchhoff (Germany),
Roth Ede (Hungary), Jorgos Panetsos (Greece), Gabriel Bianco (France),
Pavlovits Dvid (Hungary), Podhorszky Gbor (Hungary), Pusztai
Antal (Hungary), Marko Feri (Italy), Giampaolo Bandini (Italy), Goran
Krivokapic (Iugoslavia) etc.

Harold Gretton began playing guitar at


the age of 7. In 2001 he started his Bachelor of Music studies at the Australian
National University (ANU) School of
Music which he completed with firstclass honours in 2006. He was awarded
the Bernhard Neumann prize for most
outstanding graduate. He is presently
a PhD candidate at the ANU School of
Music.
Harold has won numerous national and international competitions, including first prize in the 2007 Vienna Guitar Forum - International Guitar Competition (Austria), first prize in the 2007 Cordoba
Guitar Festival - International Guitar Competition (Spain), first prize
in the 2008 Coria International Guitar Competition (Spain), first prize
in the 2008 Transilvania International Guitar Competition (Romania),
first prize in the 10th Sernancelhe International Guitar Competition
(Portugal, 2008), and first prize in the International Competition of 20th
Century Guitar Music Interpretation in Lagonegro (Italy, 2006). He was
awarded second prize in the 51st Tokyo International Guitar Competition (2008).
He has performed concerts at the ORF RadioKulturhaus (Austria),
at the Cordoba Guitar Festival (Spain), at the Mikulov Guitar Festival
(Czech Republic), at the Vienna Guitar Forum (Austria), at the Niksic
Guitar Festival (Montenegro), at the Targu Mures Guitar Festival (Romania), at the Darwin International Guitar Festival, at the 2006 Sydney
Classical Guitar Society Summer School, for the Saigon Guitar Society
(Vietnam), amongst others. Since 2006 he has been a member of the
Canberra-based guitar quartet Guitar Trek.
In 2008 he was invited to perform with the Canberra Symphony
Orchestra, at the Annual Proms Concert, conducted by Nicholas
Milton.

Born on March 8, 1956 in Viforoasa


(Mure), Gyrgy Lrinczi began his
guitar studies at the age of 18. He
participated to some of the earliest
editions of Sinaia Guitar Festival, where
he receives Honourable Mention in
1984. Being also a jazz enthusiast, he
was awarded the Promotion Diploma
of Sibiu Jazz Festival, in 1984.
Gyrgy Lrinczi studied and
practiced geology until 1991, when, after several visits to Belgium and
France, he decides to study lutes and their construction. In 2004 Gyrgy Lrinczi participated to Jonathan Edwards Lute Summer Classes in
Gruyres (France). He received professional recognition from luthiers
like Jonathan Rubin (Switzerland), Lieven Misschaert (Belgium), Xavier
Cauhp (France) or Istvn Knya (Hungary).
Gyrgy Lrinczi makes early plucked string instruments, including a large range of Lutes, Vihuelas, Theorbos and Baroque and
Renaissance Guitars. He is a member of the Lute Society (England) and,
beginning with 1995, he teaches classical guitar in Trgu Mure Art
School.
