JOB PURPOSE:
To lead a curriculum team in the pursuit of excellence in relation to learners success, progression, employability and
the whole learner experience. To ensure curriculum offered is developing, growing and refreshed in line with
continuous updating and improvement. To work with Curriculum Area Management to ensure curriculum is planned
and delivered to achieve outstanding success and outcomes. To be accountable for curriculum success rates and the
performance indicators on retention, achievement, attendances, high grades and value added. Responsible for
delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment across the curriculum provision, using innovative and
dynamic methods to secure learner success, developing high learner aspirations and supporting positive progression.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Lead your team to secure outstanding success for all learners and ensure targets for recruitment, retention,
achievement and success, attendance and progression are met. To be accountable for reaching targets set
with Curriculum Area Management
2. Prepare learners for outstanding success through the development of employability, entrepreneurial and life
skills
3. Ensure all learners are qualified in maths and English at least to Level 2, including through liaison with the
maths and English team, effective progress monitoring and the development of Maths and English skills
through vocational teaching, learning and assessment
4. Ensure that all learners are supported by planning for individual learning, target setting, progress monitoring
and referral to sources of support, advice and guidance as appropriate
5. Teach on a range of programmes as appropriate to professional experience and lead the course team in
delivery of consistently outstanding teaching, learning and assessment. Develop online resources to expand
provision
6. Work with your team to utilise data to set and monitor curriculum targets agreed with Curriculum Area
Management and to agree actions against Key Performance indicators
7. Mentor and induct new staff and teachers in line with College policy and procedure and ensure teachers
understand the high standards of quality expected in relation to teaching, learning, assessment and student
support
8. Lead the course self-assessment process and ensure that the course quality improvement plan (CIP) is
implemented and monitored
9. Ensure the course is marketed effectively and lead the course team in delivering open days, residentials,
interviews, taster events and other initiatives to support recruitment, some of which may take place outside
usual College hours
10. Ensure the curriculum meets local and national needs and identify opportunities for growth, including
Apprenticeships, through liaison with the Workforce Development team. Use local market intelligence to
ensure curriculum offers employability and the development of entrepreneurial skills
11. Undertake staff development and industry updating and liaise with appropriate external agencies including
employers, professional bodies and universities to ensure curriculum currency and excellent standards of
teaching, learning and assessment
12. Implement effective operational management of the programme, including timetabling and arrangements for
induction, and operate courses within budget
13. Implement effective quality assurance and improvement processes (including standardisation and
internal/external
verification) that continually improve the quality of teaching, learning and assessment
14. Promote the Colleges Learner Voice Policy, ensure high levels of learner experience and use feedback from
learners to continually improve excellent provision and achievement
15. Ensure provision actively promotes equality and celebrates diversity, including the delivery of teaching,
learning and assessment
16. Comply at all times with Stafford College policies and procedures, including those relating to health and safety
and the Code of Conduct
17. Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested
