The class will be divided into two groups. We will play
a game. Are you familiar of the game Charades?
In this game, a representative from each group has to
"act out" a word without speaking, while their group
members try to guess what the word is. The group
who have guess the answer in a shortest period of
time will be announce as winner. Each group is only
given two minutes to guess the answer. Am I
understood?

envelopes, which will be given to every group.
Inside of these envelopes are list of the steps in

You are given a minute to arrange the steps and
paste it on the board. Are you ready class?

get the perfect arrangement.

In making a Rat Tail splice, there are only 5 easy
steps. Which do you think is the first step?

1. Prepare stranded wire #14 as our main


wire. Unskinned the wire for about 5 inches
and clean leaving 1 inch on both ends of the
wire with insulation.
2. Prepare a wire #14 as our tap wire and
unskinned for about 6 inches from one end
and cleaned.
3. The strands of the main wire is divided in
half by forcing the screw driver through the
center of the bared portion of the main wire.

4. The strands of the tap wire is cleaned and


fanning out the strands so that they can be
pushed around the space in the main wire.

d) Analysis
What is the purpose of Split Cable Tap in electrical
work?

e) Application
The same groupings, perform at least one Plain
Tap and explain the steps on how you do your
output.

5. A space about 2 inches should be left


between the main wire and the insulation of
the tap wire. One group is wound around the
main wire in one direction and the second
group is wound in the other direction.

Split cable tap is used where stranded cables


are tapped through a conductor. This tapped
is stronger than ordinary cable tap.

You are given three minutes to do the activity. You


can start now.
