Rhino Weekly Newsletter to Parents

Week 1, Friday 6th November 2014

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the second half of our Autumn Term. This week we have been learning
about how to use fronted adverbials and modifying adjectives to make our sentences
more interesting. In maths we have been solving problems involving different measures
including length, capacity and money. The children went to an anti- bullying workshop
where they learnt what to do if they are being bullied. Today we had the mayor in for
our school council election day! Every student in year 4 had the chance to nominate
themselves to be a school council representative. We will find out the results of the
ballot next week.

PE

Class Assemblies

Swimming

Your child has PE on Tuesday every week.

Your child should wear a PE kit in school which should
include trainers/ plimsolls.
These are held on Tuesday mornings at 9am and our Year
4 assembly will be held on November 24th. All parents are
welcome to attend.
Swimming is on Wednesday mornings. Please make sure
your child has a swimming kit at school by Wednesday,
including goggles, a towel and appropriate swim wear.

Please feel free to speak to me about anything; I am available every afternoon to talk
about any concerns or queries you may have.
Kind regards,

Erin Mealey

Literacy

Please make sure your child is reading for at least 15 minutes every day
over the holidays. Please continue to fill in or sign your childs reading
record as this is an important part of the school monitoring how much
each child is reading.
Keep practising your times tables! Remember you have to know the 1-12
times tables by the end of Year 4. Here is a link to some online times
tables games that can help you practice: http://resources.woodlandsjunior.kent.sch.uk/maths/timestable/interactive.htm
