Objective
To revise and enhance students skills in the application of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completing this assignment, students shall be able:
To display the various features and tools of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
To present information gathered in a written report with creative layout.
To perform visual aided presentation with confidence.

Task 1
Students are required to form a group with a maximum of 3 students and submit the grouping to
lecturer/tutor.
The project title for the assignment is: CHRONOLOGY. Each group shall assume a topic of their
own choice, that is

Students are required to use Microsoft Word to produce a report that shows the evolution or
development of living or non-living creatures as well as man-made or non man-made elements and
shall display the following features:

Cover page
List of figures, tables etc
Table of contents
Heading or styles
Tables
Graphics
Captions
Header and footer
Page number
Watermark
Page colour & border
Orientation (portrait and landscape)

Beside the aforesaid features, students are encouraged to apply any other relevant features of
Microsoft Word to produce an informative and organised report. The length of the reports is
approximately 1,500 words.

Task 2
Prepare a visual aided presentation based on your written report in Task 1.
Students are required to use Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver a presentation that displays the
following features:
Organised presentation text with tables and graphics
Enhanced slide show with design and animation
Pictures and diagrams
Video clips
Music
Besides the aforesaid features, students are encouraged to apply any other relevant features of
Microsoft PowerPoint to deliver an informative and interesting presentation.
Each group is allocated 15 minutes for the presentation which will be held during the tutorial sessions
of Week 8. All group members must be involved in delivering the presentation, dressed in proper
attire. Extra marks will be given to participants with costumes suiting to the theme of the chosen
topic.

Submission
The submission of your group assignment shall consist of the following in sequence of:

Front cover;
Marking scheme;
Printed report in A4 size paper;
Printed presentation handouts in portrait orientation with 6 slides per page; and
CD with assignment softcopy (Ms Word & Ms PowerPoint) in appropriate folder.

Your group assignment shall be properly organised, and either 1) comb bound, or 2) stapled & taped
for submission.
All submissions must be made during the tutorial sessions on Week 8. Penalty is applicable for late
submission.

Assessment strategy
Assignment 1 will contribute 30% towards the 100% coursework marks of ATGB1414 IT and CAD.
Any late submission of assignment without acceptable reason or permission from the assessor will be
deducted 1 mark for each day of delay from the final assignment marks awarded.
Students with less than satisfactory work will be required to make good the assignment.
