Firefighters at Your Library

Firemen are everyday heroes. Children love firemen! However, fires are scary and so can
be the fireman hidden behind layers of clothing and a face mask.
In partnership with the local fire department, we will bring to our community basic fire safety
tips, hands-on exploration of life saving tools and vehicles, and a real life demonstration of a
fire rescue. We will emphasis the importance of fire prevention, but more importantly show
the children they need not be afraid.
At Frederick County Public Libraries, we believe that a free and accessible Public Library is
fundamental to a democratic society. The Public Library will provide facilities and an
environment which connects people to ideas, experiences, and information. The Public
Library will meet the current and changing information needs of the community. By inviting
the local fire department into the library, it will offer an opportunity for children to be
exposed to a positive learning experience. It will give them the information they need to be
prepared and confident if they find themselves in an emergency situation.
