Respected Maam/ Sir,

It is a question usually asked to engineers, why do we apply for jobs in finance,

of all the unrelated fields? I wondered over it myself. I realised one day, as
engineers, our job is to understand the laws of nature and apply them to our
devices to make life easier, same is the world of economics. Once an engineer
realises that economics and finance are laws of nature, they happen around us
all the time, visibly or invisibly, and that the economy is a giant machine working
in an unbelievable harmony, he is good to go.
It was a pleasant realisation, which I supported with trying to acquire knowledge
of economics. I laid my hands upon a book by Paul Samuelson, and read the
introductory note. An article, Cool Heads at the Service of Warm Hearts touched
me. Armed with the tools of economics, one can save the efforts of millions of
people who work endlessly to make their ends meet and directly or indirectly
help the economy. Wars, if prevented, save precious human resource and ease
the pressure on the economy. The article motivated me so much that I went on
to read further, and am currently working on the Demand and Supply dynamics
of the system and understanding Income Elasticity, simultaneously pursuing a
course in Principles of Microeconomics on coursera.

One needs to be well versed in Mathematics to understand the magic these

numbers have in an economy. I find myself very comfortable with numbers,
especially after learning advanced engineering mathematics and an even
advanced course, Computational methods in engineering and Statistics. These
numbers and graphs are not just randomised values, the represent a deeper
story. I have been always at ease with the closest application of Mathematics,
Physics and understand the significance of even minute changes in a few
variables and their impacts on the entire system.
My academics have been my priority. In the recent semester, I was the top
ranker of the class and have been in the top three since the beginning of the
course. With my current CGPA standing at a delightful 9.67, I am sure to end with
a figure above 9.5, and with a little effort, maybe even exceed my current mark.
An unofficial website, made by a friend reported my rank in the top 15 of the
entire institute among all the years and courses.
With academics cruising, I have been an avid participant in the extra-curricular
activities of the college. The trend began while I was in school, with my going to
the regional level for debating and getting a national level prize by the Ministry
of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India. I took over a new type of activity,
Street Play, which is an old-indian technique of marketing and spreading
awareness. Amazing effective, it requires a tremendous amount of team work
and synchronisation. With my team putting efforts with me, such activities make
me feel that I have grown as a person, individually too.

I may not possess the deep knowledge of finance now. But lack of knowledge
only shows that there still is a room for improvement. With expert guidance, I am
certain that my efforts will materialize into something special, something
constructive. It is said, Live with the giants and you turn into one yourself.
Mitsubishi is an undisputable giant and under its aegis, I desire to learn, to
multiply my skills and to successfully complete the task expected of me.
The details of my academics are mentioned in my CV, attached alongwith. Some
documents are also attached for your kind perusal.
Thank You,
Warm Regards,
