Evangelism

Pastor Jason Armold

• Foundations First
• The Bible
• Is the infallible, inspired, inerrant Word of God. The Bible alone is the final
authority for determining all doctrinal truths. ( 2 Tim 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:20,21 )
• The Trinity
• God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit (
John 16:15 )
• Jesus Christ
• The son of God sent to recover that which was lost in the fall of man. That
He alone was commissioned by God in a pre-creation covenant to bring
man back to a rightful relationship with the Creator. That He was born of a
Virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified on a cross, shed His blood for our
sins, and defeated death through the resurrection on the third day. That
He is seated at the right hand of the Father awaiting the restitution of all
things to come in power and glory. ( 1 Tim 2:5, 3:16 )
• Holy Spirit
• The third person of the trinity, who dwells within the believer. This
indwelling is through the baptism of the Holy Spirit as promised by the
Father. The Holy Spirit imparts the revealed will of God to our lives and
through Him the full restoration of the gifts of the Spirit , the fruit of the
Spirit bring glory to God by the individual functioning as the church. ( 1
Cor 12, John 16, Mark 16:17, Acts 1:5, 2:1-4 )
• Salvation
• We believe that man was created in the image of God, and be
voluntary transgression fell from grace. That the person of Jesus
Christ and the substitutionary death he suffered is the only hope for
redemption for man. This is appropriated by regeneration of the
spirit of man in repentance and faith. Salvation is by grace through
faith and not of good works or human effort. ( Rom5:12-21, John
6:44,65 ; Rom 10:9,10 Ep. 2:8-10, Titus 3:5, Acts 3:19, 1 Jn 1:9 )
• Divine Healing
• We believe in the healing of the spiritual, emotional and physical
man as appropriated by the cross. Jesus commissioned the church
to the same end as His ministry and that this would be a sign that
followed believers.( Isa 53:4-5, 1 Pet 2:24, Mark 16:17,18, Jas 5:14-
16 )
• Baptism
• We believe in water baptism by immersion after the salvation
experience. Signifying the death of the old man and the risen life of
the new man in Christ. ( Matt 28:19, Mark 1:8-10, John 3:22,23;
Acts 10:47,48 )
• The Lord’s Supper
• We believe in the Lord’s Supper or Communion as a
remembrance of what Jesus did for us. We do this in
the ceremony of bread and grape juice. ( Matt 26:26-
29, 1 Cor. 111:23-26 )
• Eternal Life for the Righteous
• We believe in Heaven as a place prepared for those
who embrace the finished work of Jesus and accept
Him as their Savior. ( Matt 25:46, Luke 18:29,30 John
10:27,28 Romans 6:22 )
• Eternal Punishment for the Wicked
• Matt 25:46, 2 Thess. 1:8,9 Revelation 2:8, 20: 10-15
Where Are We Coming From?
• First, Christianity begins with an accurate
diagnosis of the human dilemma.
• The problem is a moral one: our guilt before a
holy God.
• God created us and established the moral
dimensions for our lives.
• We blew it.
• All have sinned (Romans 3:23) and are
alienated from God
• Second, Christianity provides the only answer to sin.
• God Himself has reached across the divide that separates us
from Him in order to bring us back.
• Jesus Christ, the Son of God, paid the price for our sins, justifying
the demands of a righteous God.
• God is both the just and the One who justifies (Romans 3:26).
• Since it is humans who commit sin, only a human being can pay
the penalty. But since sin offends the infinite God, the penalty is
infinite – which means only God can pay it. God becomes man in
the person of His Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for our sin.
• Jesus’ death is not the end of the story, He was resurrected and
lives forevermore. We can be free from sin because of what HE
did!
• The Gospel transforms our lives through the power of the Holy
Spirit.
• Third, Christianity’s offer of salvation is based on historical truth.
• The final element that sets us apart from all other religions is that it
is not based on some evolutionary projection millions of years into
the future or on some extraterrestrial fantasy, but on a historical
event at a specific time and place: the crucifixion of Christ during
the Jewish Passover in Jerusalem in the year A.D. 30 and His
resurrection three days later.
• This historical event, over the last 2000 years, has withstood every
imaginable assault. What skeptics overlook is that the empty tomb
was a historical fact, verifiable by ordinary observation like any
other historical fact. It was acknowledged by the soldiers who
guarded the tomb, and verified by Christ’s appearance to five
hundred witnesses. The original disciples refused to renounce
Jesus, even though they were persecuted, tortured and martyred.
• People will die for something they believe to be true, but they will
never die for something they know to be false!
What Do We Need to Do?
• “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God
as a workman who does not need to be ashamed,
handling accurately the word of truth.” 2 Timothy
2:15
• Without a proper foundation, buildings don’t
stand, civilizations don’t last, and Christians don’t
witness well!
• Know what you believe, build on the proper
foundation. This is the first step in being a true
witness for Christ!
Four Things to Remember
• God loves you and those He wants you to
witness to: John 3:16
• 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life.
• Man is sinful and separated from God: Romans
3:23
• 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God,
• Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for man’s sin:
Romans 5:8
• 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for
us.
• We must individually receive Jesus as Savior and
Lord: Romans 10:9
• 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord
Jesus and believe in your heart that God has
raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
