What is Factoring?

When we say the word factoring, the first term that

comes to our mind are the multiplication, factors or multiples and product.
Multiplication is defined as repeated addition. Factors are numbers we can
multiply together to get another number. Product is the result of multiplying two or
more numbers. Factoring is the process of finding the factors. It is also the opposite
of expanding.
There are many types of factoring like factoring by getting the GCF or
the Greatest Common Factor. Another is factoring the difference of two squares.
Then factoring the Perfect Square Trinomials or (PST). A perfect square trinomial
is the result of squaring a binomial. In PST, the first and last term should be perfect
squares and the middle term is twice the product of the square root of the first and
last terms. In factoring more than 3 terms, we can use the grouping technique.
As we can see, there are many types of factoring but the task that was
given to us is focusing on difference of two squares. The solution in the form of the
difference of two squares should come up with an answer which is the given
number.
There are numbers that cannot be express as the answer on the
difference of two squares like 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 22, 26 and 30. But when getting the
odd numbers as the answer on the difference of two squares, there is pattern. There
are also multiple solutions in one number. Lets find out what are some of the
patterns to get the solutions easily.

First, lets talk about how to get the difference of squares of odd numbers.
We found two techiques in answering this activity. One technique, is when we add
the minuend and subtrahend without adding the exponent the answer is the odd
number. For example, 2 raised to two minus 1 raised to two the answer is 3. 2+1 =
3. Another techniques for odd numbers, the two numbers before the answer, it is
the subtrahend and the minuend and if you add these you will also get the number.
For example, 3, the two numbers before are 2 and 1 when add this two the answer
will be three, it is also the subtrahend and the minuend.

Lets move on to even numbers, to get the solution as the difference of

square, we need to add two numbers can be prime or composite and get the half of
the answer. If we got it, we need to multiply it by two, if the answer is right. That is
only the patterns or techniques that we are able to observe.

How did we start? First, we get the square of numbers 1 to 15. Then, we
tried to group it by pair then subtract to get the answers. We are able to get answers
that are odd numbers. Then we try to find patterns and techniques to get answers
that are even.

We all try it individually, and then we discovered patterns, and after it, we
have concluded that we have the same answers. As for who designed our table on
how it would look like, we help each other out so we were able to present it
cleanly.
