What would you do if you could not vote? Own land? Get a proper education?

Would
you be upset, furious, frustrated or annoyed? That is how most women feel when
they heard this. Do you want that to happen to you and maybe even your daughter?
For many years women have been trying to claim their rights while men have many
privileges that women do not have. Many countries deny putting women s rights int
o action.
Everyone is entitled to have freedom especially women. Women s rights let women be
independent and treated fairly. Some of the most common rights they fight for a
re the right to vote, equal pay, owning land and getting an education. These typ
es of problems usually occur in both under developed and developing countries. O
ver the years more people are respecting women s rights. Multiple groups and organ
ization such as IWRP also known as International Women s Rights Project has been h
elping establish women s rights around the globe for over two centuries.
Women s rights are often ignored in countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq
etc. In Pakistan women are not respected and do not have rights. Women are ofte
n deprived of education, therefore they have to stay home and do chores for fami
ly. Men abuse them and they cannot do anything about it because of their status
also majority of people think that men are better, they are smarter, and men are
more important than everyone else. This gives them more power. In Pakistan wome
n s lives are being controlled. They cannot express their feelings. In 1947, women
were able to vote but the big problem was that 99% of crimes were not brought t
o justice. Most of these cases talk about how women want to claim their rights o
r trying to fight against abuse. For example a student wanted to choose her husb
and, she was buried alive her parents killed her because she does not wish to do
what her parents want. Women deserve to say what they want but right now their
rights are being disregarded.
The abuse of women in under-developed countries happen all the time Men often ab
use women particularly their wives some examples of abuse are raping them or con
stantly hitting them because men take their anger on women or they enjoy doing i
t. Women are isolated from the outside world by doing house work such us cleanin
g, dressmaking, knitting and embroidery. The only time they are allowed to go ou
t of their homes is for work or if they are told to go outside by their husbands
. They never chose this lifestyle, it was chosen for them by her parents. The li
fe they have isn t easy. At the age of sixteen in Pakistan women are often married
to solve problems between other families. These girls' husband are chosen for t
hem. Even though they do not like their life and rather be alone the divorce rat
e is low, because social stigma is attached to it. It may seem to be a bad reaso
n, but that is just how it is. Unfortunately other countries also suffer from th
is lifestyle.
There are many different ways that women are abused in these countries. Most com
mon issues with women are abuse and murder like physical abuse, raping, dowry ab
use and honour killing and many more. Physical abuse usually includes hitting wo
men, throwing acid, cutting off noses and ears and the people who do these do no
t get punished from the government because it is not registered as a crime. A gi
rl was raped; the government did not do anything about it. Dowry is when the gir
l brings her husband in the family the bride s family pays for this couple to sett
le down in a home but when the bride s family refuses to pay, it ends up killing t
he woman. The husband uses flammable liquids to kill his wife. This is also call
ed bride burning it often happens in countries like Bangladesh, India and Pakist
an. Lastly honour killing, this is commonly done by a family member because if t
he girl refuses to do what her parents wish. Over 85% of women suffer from this
kind of life every day.
All over the world women do not have many of privileges. Everyone wants equal pa
y when working to be able to support their family, the right to vote, work, etc.
In our western society women are more independent but in other countries it is
becoming worse because of all that s happening in their society. The environment t

hey live in may be. These stereotypes are the most common things that make peopl
e believe that makes it harder for women to get jobs. You can support women s righ
ts by participating in international women s day on March 8th. This day celebrates
political and social achievements of women and it encourages women to stand up
for themselves. Equality is very important when you think of women s rights becaus
e both men and women need to be treated fairly. In my opinion women are capable
of doing many great things for example Mother Teresa made a difference in the wo
rld she was able to treat the sick and opened up orphanages around the world. No
t on did Mother Teresa make a difference but other women accomplished a lot! How
