MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of our clergy and parishioners at Our Lady of Peace, St Andrews
and St Gilberts, and to our Anglican brothers and sisters at St Andrews, especially Rev Janet
Minkkinen.
MANY THANKS to so many who have helped in the Parish throughout the year in varying jobs
and ministries, especially at Christmas. Grateful thanks to: the altar servers; our musicians and
choir; the Church cleaners; the flower ladies who provide such beautiful displays throughout the
year; Sacristans Denise, John and Marie; the readers; the extraordinary ministers of Holy
Communion; the collectors; parish welcomers/ushers; the team of counters; the 9.45am Mass
Tea/Coffee team; the CWL; the SVP, the Parish and Youth Evangelisation Teams; Childrens
Liturgy; and all the Catechists. THANK YOU TO YOU ALL. And finally thanks especially to
Yvonne Cafferty, the parish secretary, for all her work.
DECEASED Please pray for Deacon George Brooker who died recently. Deacon Georges
Requiem Mass will be on Monday, 21st December at 1.30pm followed by committal at Slough
Crematorium. Also please pray for Zenaida Nicdao RIP who died last week, her Requiem Mass
will be on Thursday, 24th December at 9.30am at Our Lady of Peace. May their souls and the
souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
HELP AT THE CHRISTMAS 6.00PM MASS Please sign up on the sheet which is at the back
of the Church, the childrens Mass is always very busy so any help offered will be very much
appreciated. There is a separate list for altar servers in the Sacristy, please check which Mass
you will be attending before you sign up. Many thanks.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CLASSES If you have registered your child(ren) to make their First
Holy Communion in May 2016, there will be a meeting for the Parents on Thursday, 7th January
at 6.30pm in Our Lady of Peace Church. The books we shall use with the children will be
available at this meeting so please bring an envelope with your childs name written on it
containing the cost of the books, which you have been advised by letter/email. The childrens
sessions will then commence on Saturday, 9th January from 9.30am11.00am at St Andrews
Church, Cippenham. Further information on the full programme will be explained at the meeting
on 7th January, therefore please attend with your child. Please pray for our children so that they
will grow in their appreciation of the sacraments of Confession and Holy Communion.
GOSPEL OF MATTHEW THE KING AND HIS KINGDOM Bible Study Course - Jeff Cavins
(author of Great Adventure Bible Study Series) presents a 24-part study of the first gospel. He
provides expert commentary and unique insights on the Gospel of Matthew. Discover the riches
and beauty hidden in the pages of this Gospel. The course will run on Wednesday evenings at
Our Lady of Peace from 20th January 2016. If interested, please contact Ed/Anna on 01628

AN UNFORGETTABLE NIGHT On 27th November a number of volunteers from this Parish and
surrounding areas slept outside for the night in support of homeless people in Slough. This is the
first year we have taken on the challenge of an event of this kind and we would like to express
our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us. We thank you for the very generous
sponsorship so kindly donated, for the help provided by the volunteers setting everything up and
to those who came along to provide moral support. We would also like to say a huge thank you
to all those who slept out, who, after an evening of howling wind and lashing rain, settled down
to a night in a cardboard box. It was an experience we will never forget the cold, the hard
ground and the complete lack of sleep. We were relieved to go home the following morning to
our warm beds! We are absolutely thrilled to report that, collectively, you have helped to raise in
excess of 10,000!! A truly amazing amount which guarantees the Emergency Winter Night
Shelter for Slough once again. On behalf of the homeless people in Slough and from all at
The London and Slough Run you have been amazing - thank you so much!
