Charlie Hieronymus Pace is a middle-aged man who was born in Manchester, New England. He, his brother Liam and a few other friends made up a British band by the name of Driveshaft. The day Charlies band is signed by a record deal, Charlie is in the confessional. He is confronted by his brother Liam, who tells him the good news. In the climax of Driveshafts fame, Charlie learns that his brother is a drug addict, and after a fight with him, Charlie caves in to heroin. In the height of his addiction, Charlie and his friend Tommy are out of money, and Charlie is forced to trick a lady by the name of Lucy Heatherton, whose father is a rich man. He is eventually invited to her house, where he finds a cigarette case that once belonged to Winston Churchill. Despite all his efforts, Charlie cant bring himself to take it, and develops emotions for Lucy. He is confronted by Tommy, and finally, Charlie steals the case. However, in the middle of an interview in a job that her father had given to him, Charlie throws up and the cigarette case I revealed. Lucy abandons Charlie after telling him: You will never take care of anyone
Charlie on the Island
On the island. Charlie hides many secrets from the other survivors. First of all, Charlies heroin addiction is hidden from everyone until Locke learns and, in exchange for his guitar, Charlie quits. Charlie also hides an irrational fear of bees from the islanders. Pace also had many encounters with other characters, such as Jack, Hurley, Ethan, Claire and Rose: In the episode The Moth, Charlie confronts Jack about his not doing anything to help around the island and his feeling useless, which leads to a cave-in. Charlie asks Hurley if he has any peanut butter (for Claire) and accidentally tells Hurley: Look at you! I mean, youre He and Claire are kidnapped by Ethan, and, Ethan threatens to kill the survivors. Claire and Charlie have many encounters, but the most relevant is the peanut butter conversation. After Charlies abduction, Rose tells Charlie that all of the survivors lived a trauma, and just cause you were kidnapped doesnt give you the right to be rude.

Pace Charlies character is portrayed by the actor Dominic Monaghan. His last name may or may not be a reference to the Latin word pace, meaning peace. The colors orange and blue would most likely be those who best describe Charlie, since prior to the crash, Charlie had a love for adventure and mischief (orange), what with his love of partying and, while with Claire Littleton, develops a sense of love and peace (blue), expressed most when Claire and Charlie are kidnapped by Ethan Rom; we can see the sense of protection he provides for Claire . Charlie has an irrational fear of bees, wasps and related creatures. Hieronymus also has a meaning: Jerome (in Latin), which, in Greek translates to sacred name.
