Concealed in the housing of the Wash ngton Globe is the so

The more compact "acorn" style globe utilized in the

Pedestrian ContraCline series offers opportunities for appli-

artfully concealed in the top of the housing, the daytime form
is truly reminiscent of the gas lanterns of a bygone era.

this luminaire is perfectly in scale. Although the subtle ball

type finial is standard with the Pedestrian ContraCline, where

it is desired to use this product and the Washington

ContraCline together on the same site, the spike type finial
(standard on the Washington) may be specified to provide a
consistent daytime {orm.

The Pedestrian ContraCline uses a new state-of-the-art

optical system designed around medium base metal halide
lamps up to 175 watts and high pressure sodium lamps up to
150 watts. This optical system employs five (5) distinct elements which are precisely designed, manufactured, and
positioned to provide peak candlepower at 70'and cutoJf to
the lamp at 80'. This design serves to provide superior nighttime visibility while minimizing lile cycle costs.

As with all Moldcast products, however, the high performance

optical system is the most significant feature. This tradrtional

luminaire utilizes the patented Moldcast Pericline optical sys-

tem which pioneered the concept of collecting and

distributing reflector systems. The upper collecting reflector
surrounds and conceals the lamp while precisely directing light
down to the distributing reflector. This lower reflector redirects
the light out at high angles (peak candlepower of 65-70") to
provide wide pole spacings and unilorm illumination. The optical system is designed for cutoff at 75" which will minimize
the effects of disability glare and light trespass.
