ABSTRACT
Habitat preference of location research laying on the nest by bird manyar (Ploceus
manyar) in the village of meunasah bak u aims to inform preferences in laying on the
nest by birds. The method used is descriptive and observations are analyzed. This
research shows that the preferred place to put a hive is Leucaena leucocephala. Some
factors that become the reason for laying on the nest was based on height, branching, the
distance food source nearby, distance with remote communities, as well as no animal
bullies and predators
Keywords: Habitat preferences of laying on the nest, the bird Manyar, Leucaena
leucocephala

Introduction
Manyar include granivora (eater of grain) this activity in solitary or gregarious.
The birds flew back and forth from one place to the rice paddies or from to the nest with
or without carrying something in his beak. Her unique-shaped nests are suspended in
the branches of trees that grow in the surrounding environment. generally high (up to
more than 15 m) and has a lot of branches. In addition to rambai, trees or plants with
hangings Manyar nest topknot is the coconut (Cocos nucifera), bamboo, and bundung
(Scirpus grossus). Manyar nest topknot consists of frame and the wall. The main
function of the framework is to associate the nest tree branch hanging nests, so strong.

In addition, the framework serves as a fastener woven walls, referring the shape of the
nest, and nest building birds during the foothold that it turns out that starts from the top.
Frame material is the bundung Rod length is about 30 cm and width is about 10 mm.
Material (woven) wall is rips coconut leaves or leaves of rice with a length varying (515 cm) and 1-3 mm thick. (Soenjoto et al, 2014).

The placement location of the hive is an aspect to note in the study of ecology or
conservation. This research aims to know us habitat preference by bird nests laying on
location manyar (Ploceus manyar). This research is expected to be able to provide the
basic information for the location of the habitat preferences of laying on a bird's nest
manyar.

meter, and stationery. Observations based on the top 10 with plots, Plot 1 coconut trees

observation note the plot-the plot to be a place to put the bird nest manyar. After the plot
was discovered to have a bird's nest manyar then observed high trees, layout of hotbed,
the distance the plot contained the hive and not, the distance of the plot there is a nest
with community housing, food source, source of disturbance or preadator. The data
analyzed are descriptive.

Table 1. The number of nests and the amount of vegetation is preferred.

Table 1 above may indicate that the preferred vegetation as laying on the nest
by Leucaena leucocephala manyar bird is because of the 10 plots there are 8 plots of
Leucaena leucochephala plants that dominate the bird nest. The difference between the
number of nests in each plot Leucanea leucocephala plants found extremely varied
starting from a plot by the number 3 most nest 4 nests. Layout of hotbed that is high
enough from the Mainland as well as the distance with people far enough as small as
possible so as to minimize the disruption to the location of the nest is really safe.
(Kosasih, 2011). This is as it has been expressed by Burnie.D (1992) that for the kinds
of birds that build tree above nest, in terms of the selection of tree species as its host is
affected by several factors: the type of tree can provide fodder for him, the branching
architecture allows as a place to put the nest so that it can give a sense of security for
the eggs and chicks and also can be influenced by factors of adaptation of birds to its
habitat.

From observation data can note that the layout of hotbed on the plant Leucaena
leucocephala farther than other vegetation than the inhabitants of the settlement as well
as the food source is very close. While the plot is 1 nest there on the tips of trees Cocos
nucifera totalling 1 nest and Casuarina equisetifolia on 2 plots totalling 1 nest. The
observations suggest that some of the data that makes the Leucaena leucocephala on the
plot 3 is where the preferred nest is presented laying on Table 2.

Table 2. Habitat preferences of Laying Nest data on Leucaena leucocephala

The above data shows that the habitat of Leucaena leucocephala is fits in
the laying nest. Due to the height of a tree high enough allow animal predators
and bullies are not capable of being. Layout of hotbed that is high enough from
the Mainland as well as the distance with people far enough u.s. small u.s.
possible so as to minimize the disruption to the location of the nest is completely
safe as well as the food source nearby.

Conclution
The research indicates that Leucaena leucocephala is putting the most preferred nest.
This is because the plot in 8 observe is Leucaena lecocephala belongs near the food
source range 5-8 m and far from settlement 1 km. Several factors that become the reason
for laying on the nest was based on height, branching, the distance food source nearby,
distance with remote communities, as well as no animal bullies and predators.
