RC Holy Spirit, together with the Rotaract

Club of Holy Spirit and the Interact Club of
Holy Spirit National High School, held a
unique Christmas party celebration last December 22, 2015 for nearly 90 children who
have been roaming about and basically living
in the streets of Barangay Holy Spirit. The 26
street children under RCHSs Care Seekers
Program were joined by about 60 other street
kids aged 4 to 15 years old in the party held
inside the Our Lady of Sacred Heart Chapel in
the barangay A continuing project of RCHS,
the Care Seekers Program initiated by WCP
Angel Castro, and in collaboration with volunteer organizations and social workers, aims to
help influence the behavior and instill hope
among very young street children, some of
whom are already into
drugs.

RCHS members and supporters provided

food that was overflowing that the children
even had some to bring home to their families. Also, gifts and goodies gave much joy
and excitement to the children. Rtn Jerry Sy,
clad in a Santa Claus costume, entertained
the kids with a dance performed with Interactors and Rotaractors, and distributed loot
bags containing toys, rice, and groceries to
bring home to their families. RaC WCP Chie
Bullo emceed the program.
WCP Angel Castro was joined by PE Peth
Rivera, IPP Marites Nepomuceno, PP Marcia
Salvador, PP Linda Palattao, PP Beth Sy, PP
Chin Jurado, PP Ammie.Bagain, Chair Ric
Salvador, Rtn Jerry Sy, and Rtn Percy Zabala
in cheering up the children, together with RtnSanta Jerry Sy. Providing invaluable support
to the event were members of the Salamat Sa
Biyaya Foundation (SSBF) who took charge
of gathering the children.

Because the desired

eventual program outcome is mind-set and
behavior change, the
Christmas party implemented by the Rotarians,
Rotaractors and Interactors of Holy Spirit had to
go beyond the usual giftgiving, game contests,
and feeding activities

food, gifts and surprises during annual Christmas program
On December 23, PP Linda Palattao, Rotarians and
volunteers spread Christmas cheers and joy among
102 indigent families in the Payatas area.
The annual event is organized and hosted by PP
Linda Palattao at the former campus of Elite business school (now Central Institute of Technology)
located in the Payatas area.
The program included fun games, raffle of prizes
and gift-giving for children, and sharing lunch meals
with children and their parents..

This years program was organized by PP Linda and

community volunteers. They were assisted by WCP
Angel Castro, PP Beth Sy and Rtn Jerry Sy.
As in previous years, the parents were cheered with
noche buena packs donated by Buklod ng Panginoon Foundation. Each of the 102 packs distributed
to the parents contained a pear ham, spaghetti
packs and other items for the traditional Christmas
family midnight snacks.

Holy Spirit fetes youth service partners in joint Christmas

fellowship party and year-end thanksgiving program
The RC Holy Spirit family of Rotarians, Rotaractors and
Interactors celebrated their joint Christmas fellowship
party and year-end thanksgiving program for the clubs
youth service partners held last December 23, 2015 at
the Salvador residence in Don Antonio Heights in Barangay Holy Spirit.
The Christmas program featured messages from WCP
Angel Castro and PDG Francis Rivera, a show of talents
not only by Interactors and Rotaractors but also by Rotarians (specifically CP Nides Rivera), and exciting and
fun games enjoyed by the young and old. The Rotaractors even serenaded the Rotarians with Christmas carols.

Each of the young attendees went home with at least a

raffle prize, with most getting more. Also, each of them
received loot bags with some groceries and goodies to
bring home to their families. The raffle prizes and loot
bags were given by Holy Spirit Rotarians.
Interactor Daniel Ortega emceed the program and led
most of the games. Rotaract President Chie Ladia Bullo
supported Itr Daniel throughout the program. Food was
provided by the Salvadors who have been traditionally
hosting the joint Interact-Rotaract Christmas Party.
It was a night of fellowship, frolic and fun for the 18 Interactors, 22 Rotaractors and 16 Rotarians. The party
lasted until almost midnight.

Rotary Club of Holy Spirit fetes youth service partners in year-end

thanksgiving program . . .
Although each of the many pictures is already worth
a thousand words, a few additional words are
needed to understand WHY this fellowship & thanksgiving event happens every year.
This year, the RC Holy Spirit family of Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors celebrated its joint Christmas fellowship party and year-end thanksgiving program for the clubs youth service partners last 23
December 2015. The pictures portray fun, friendship
& fellowship and goodwill among Interactors, Rotaractors and Rotarians which characterized the program.
RC Holy Spirit of District 3780 is able to accomplish
many small, medium and large-scale, high visibility
projects for the community because of the participation and support of our youth service partners, the
ROTARACT CLUB OF HOLY SPIRIT and the INTERACT CLUB OF HOLY SPIRIT NATIONAL HIGH
SCHOOL, whose leaders and members all enjoy
every opportunity for service to others, for leadership
development, and for fine fellowship.
The Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors of Holy
Spirit have been together in Rotary since 2010.
As a Rotary team, they are inextricably bound together by roots in a common community, by a tradition of working together in service projects, by the
pervasive influence of the powerful Holy Spirit brand
name, and just as importantly, by consistently superb leadership of the Rotary Club of Holy Spirit.
The talent, resources and passion for service of all
members of this team have raised the Rotary Club
of Holy Spirit D3780 a notch above the rest a
pilot club of Rotary International from 2011 to
2016, most outstanding club in the District by 2014,
a Global Grant project proponent club by 2015
among other distinctions. - By RP Salvador 23 Dec 2015

Membership update from Rotary International: Rotary membership

Rotarys preliminary
worldwide
membership figure as of 1 July is

clubs. This represents a net increase of more
than 20,000 Rotary
members
since 1 July 2014.
:This is encouraging, and indicates that the innovative approaches were using to reach out to new
members, and keep existing ones, are reaping rewards, says RI General Secretary John Hewko. Its
gratifying to see the elements of our membership
strategy, such as the brand strengthening initiative,
a more robust social media presence, and the Rotary Global Rewards program, bring in new members.

The implementation of new digital tools designed to

enhance the membership experience has helped
drive growth, say leaders at One Rotary Center.
More than 14,700 Rotary clubs (43 percent) have
adopted Rotary Club Central to set and track annual
goals for membership, service, and giving to The
Rotary Foundation. Rotarians have posted more
than 8,900 projects on Rotary Showcase since it
launche in 2012, reflecting more than 6.8 million volunteer hours.
As always, while celebrating these milestones, we
should use them as a springboard to new achievements, Hewko says. One of our 2015-16 goals is to
increase club membership by 35,000 people, expand the diversity of our members, and keep more
of them at Rotary.
RI President K.R. Ravindran and Hewko hosted two
Twitter chats during Membership and New Club Development Month in August to talk to members
about why they joined Rotary and the benefits of
club membership.

Clubs battle hunger in Missouri with Food Fight

Principles that Guide Rotary

The Object of Rotary
First formulated in 1910, the Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy
enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity
for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an
opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding,
goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business
and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

5 Avenues of Service
Based on Object of Rotary, the Five Avenues of Service are
Rotarys philosophical cornerstone and the foundation on
which club activity is based:
Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club.
Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to serve others
through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards.
Community Service covers the projects and activities the
club undertakes to improve life in its community.
International Service encompasses actions taken to expand Rotarys humanitarian reach around the globe and to
promote world understanding & peace.
Youth Service recognizes the positive change implemented
by youth and young adults through leadership development
activities, service projects, and exchange programs.
