President of Wrtsil Propulsion
competitive manner. The reliability
and productivity of the vessels are
further ensured by the lifetime
service support offered by Wrtsils
worldwide service network with
over 5000 professionals in more than
50 countries.

Q What are the key elements of The

Ship Power Supplier strategy?

A Wrtsil aims to continuously

develop its product and service
offering in order to provide
customers with the most effective,
reliable and environmentally friendly
solutions for all marine power and
propulsion needs. We support this
aim by being the most responsive
and efficient partner to our
customers from first concepts
throughout the lifetime of the vessel.
The Ship Power Supplier concept
is founded on the need expressed by
shipbuilders and shipowners to have
the optimal machinery, propulsion
and manoeuvring solutions installed
in their ships in the most competitive
manner. The reliability and
productivity of the vessels are further
ensured by Wrtsil lifetime service
support from a single source.
Q Why did Wrtsil introduce The
Ship Power Supplier strategy?

A Wrtsil introduced a new strategy

in order to respond to the current
changes in the marine industry.
Shipbuilders today are increasingly
looking for more subcontracting,
modular solutions and turnkey
deliveries to safeguard their
competitiveness. At the same time
shipowners are seeking greater
performance from their installations
while trying to reduce life-cycle
costs. The result is that both the
shipbuilders and the shipowners are
increasingly choosing to share
responsibilities with major suppliers
with the capabilities and competence
to supply and take responsibility for
a wider scope of supply.
