OVERVIEW OF HAJJ [1]

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam.

It is a fundamental duty in Islam; and its obligation is

established on the authorities of the Quran, Hadith

In the Quran, Allah (SWT) says:

And Hajj is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those
who can afford the expenses [Quran 3:97].

In the Hadith, the Prophet (SAW) said:

The Prophet (SAW) also said:

There is unanimity of the Muslim Jurists on the

Hajj represents the spirit of total sacrifice of social,

political and economic status.

From around the world, more than 2 million Muslims

make Hajj each year (2.5 million in 2009 and about 3
