Patient comments: My infertility doctor (Dr Couvaras - I live in Phoenix AZ) is the BEST. He's brilliant/unorthodox.
He thinks outside the box. What other doctors label 'unexplained infertility' he's not afraid to call... 'that's bullsh^t,
there's no such thing as unexlained, there's always an explanation, it's just that people don't want to hear it". So, he sent
me across the border for LIT. He also told me to attend Easter Service. How cool is that? He's normal, balanced, and
willing to try different things. In my opinion, once you join a group like the one that we all belong to at this point, you
have to be willing to think outside the box. Because, if you don't..., you probably won't get pregnant.

hour to even see him. I am so glad that I decided to stay. WOW. He was so detailed. I was so impressed. He asked so
many questions. Once he heard my
story he asked me if it was okay to bring more people into the room.
I said it was okay, the more they learn the better it is for us right?
So he had another MD in there, a Nurse, and a writer who is writing a
book about cases like ours. He did not like that I had so many
miscarriages and no one cared to test me. The more miscarriages we
have the more problems we have. I felt heard. I brought in all the
questions and he answered all of them (30 questions...yak). He was
impressed by my knowledge. I told him that I know what to ask, I am
educated, I spent time researching, but I am NOT able to provide
treatment for myself, so to please always remember that. I rely on
him. I am his resource only, he is the expert. He is going to be
testing me on everything. I love that. Whatever he needs to do
Another patient comment: Dr. Brody, follows Dr. Beer's treatment but he does not call back, nor does his nurse. I find
this very strange, as I have never experienced this before. I am so sad because Dr. Brody is very detailed and I
felt so good with him. Another set back.

Patient comments: I am new to the board and have seen a ton of posts on REs who don't believe in immune issues. I
went to 6 before I found a great Dr. who totally believes in immune issues and treats them. He does not advertise.
Every one that goes to him heard about him from someone that was successfully treated. The only thing he does not do
is LIT (since he legally cannot). He did LIT for many years before it was banned.His name is Robert Friedland and he
is in Beverly Hills (but does not charge Bev Hills prices). I have met numerous women in his waiting room who have
had 6 plus m/cs and then finally a baby after he treated them.The only reason I am posting this is because it took me so
long to find someone who really believed in my problems. It took me 2years to find him and I wish I knew about him
sooner.He is now supporting me in getting LIT in Mexico with Dr. Beers.

Patient comments: When I was visiting my family in Indiana, I met with a doctor from
the Jarret Fertility group, Dr. Mogadem, about doing a laparoscopy to
take out my endo and possibly transferring the blasts we have on ice
at SIRM. The reason I made an appt with themwas because I read on
their website that they believe in LIT and many of Dr. Beer's
principles...Dr. Mogadem did not follow Dr. Beer's protocol in the
same way Dr. Beer writes it, but Dr. Mogadem did not discourage the
protocol either. I was hoping to meet with Dr. Jarret because I
believe he is the one who supports the LIT, but he was on vacation.
They also took my insurance, Tricare Standard and are so much less
expensive once you break down the cost and determine what insurance
will pay for! All in all, the transfer will cost me about 1800,
including the FEDEX cost for flying the blasts to Indiana (Imay be
off a few hundred--I am doing this by memory). Anyway, the front desk
is so helpful and nice, it was a pleasure to deal with people who
were respectful, kind and not demeaning!!! So if you are interested
they have a website, just google Jarret fertility group. I do not
know if they are already on the list of immune friendly doctors.

They have a heart for women that do not have any insurance and take that into consideration. Many of the RE's there
will do a phone consult with you and work with you long distance. All your b/w and u/s can be done locally. You
would need only to go out there for retrieval and transfer. A natural "Mini IVF" with low stims and very few eggs on
retrieval is $2,750 and Stimulated IVF with higher Stims & more eggs to retrieve is $5500. Additional charges w/b
ICSI $775 with <=10 eggs, over that w/b $1,000. Anesthesia (general or IV sedation), freezing, thawing, PGD, consult
and out of town mgmt fee would be extra. Usually anesth & consult are covered by your insurance. All this info is on

Patient comments: Dr. Braverman supports the use of Humira, IVIG, LIT, Intralpid. He is currently undergoing an
investigational trial of G-CSF (also known as C-GSF or Neupogen) for reproductive immunology patients. He is very
educated in, experienced with and supportive of reproductive immunology ideas.
He charges $1500 to monitor you thru the 1st trimester. He also charges a $650 initial consult fee. I'm not sure if this
is something he will waive if you pay the monitoring fee since you are already pregnant. You would have to call the
office to ask that. I think this is very worth the price....I have heard from other girls on here is that he is very attentive
and reachable via email at all times. He will also monitor your blood, and write any necessary prescriptions that you
need, as well as, will talk to your local dr if necessary. This way, you can use your local dr just for drawing blood
purposes and for ultrasounds. Dr. B can manage everything else. Just my personal opinion
1. Initial consult fee- $650 for initial consult fee after which he will order
labs based on you discussion. Best to provide as much info in advance of the
call to avoid having to scheduled any additional ones.
2. Follow-up calls - how many are typical for start of treatment?- $350 to go
over your lab results and recommended protocol. I think most people typically
need one unless there is something from your lab work that would indicate a need
for a follow-up test.
3. All bloodwork/labs - or would he order these through my RE clinic?Reprosource is the lab that runs these. They accept most insurance but it will
be up to your plan how much they cover. I have BCBS and was able to get it
completely covered 2 of the times and the other I paid ReproSource's "safeguard"
payment of $450 which guaranteed that I wouldn't have to pay more than that even
if my insurance refused. The number of labs you need drawn will depend on your
situation but plan on at minimum 2 in the first trimester.
4. 1st trimester monitoring fee $1500
5. 2nd-3rd trimester monitoring fees I don't believe he offers this but most
women say he is happy to help answer questions throughout your pregnancy once
the first trimester has passed.
He also charges a $1250 cycle management fee if you want him to monitor you
while you are trying to conceive. (That is $1250 per cycle)
Our total out of pocket expenses with Braverman, not including costs for drugs
but including labs was $4,200. There was an additional $5k for neupogen but all
of my other medicines were covered by insurance.
Updated patient comments: Braverman's fees have gone down since I first consulted with him. The initial consult is
now $350 (I paid $650) and the follow up consult is $350, where he reviews your test results and outlines a treatment
plan. If you had to do the full panel of immune testing (maybe you don't if you already some of that testing done, that
would be his call), the price varies depending on insurance. In my case, with an HMO that paid $0, I had to pay more
out of pocket than most and I worked it out carefully between Reproscource and Labcorp so that the full panel was
about $1000....others have paid under $700 with Reprosource alone unless insurance covered the whole thing. Once
you have your tests and the initial and follow up consults, you pay for cycle monitoring in addition to any meds
presribed. So in my case, the $1331 for this cycle is the total for all my meds (Neupogen, Intralipids, and Lovenox)
and the discounted monitoring fee (since I pre-paid for a package plan). I detail the cost of the meds in my original
email below. If I get pregnant, there is a one time $1500 fee for monitoring for the first trimester but then I will pay
more monthly for Neupogen because I will be injecting it every day, not just post ovulation....I expect then it will cost
more like $1500 a month for just over 2 months, eg the first 9 weeks of pregnancy

(post-retrieval, none during stims, sometimes uses a lower dose than Dr Beer recommends) and the
quantity/administration of the IVIg. He will Rxd 40 grams 4-5 days before embryo transfer. Often will not prescribe
IVIG past the first trimester.

Patient comments: Cheryl is the in-staff, first point of contact for fertility issues w/Overlake OB/Gyn. She is wellversed in the common fertility issues (e.g., having a sperm count run, prescribing Clomid, etc.). She is also very open
to the idea that immunology may play a role and is happy to write up the orders for you to get APA and ANA levels
tested, usually through RIA labs in Los Angeles. Anything beyond the need for Lovenox + Prednisone, though, and
you've got to call the shots. When I brought info to her from Dr. Beer's book and asked for a requisition to have
additional tests run, she was happy to oblige, but she acknowledged that I had done a lot more research about
reproductive immunology than she had. She let me control which tests I wanted to have done and was very cooperative
in signing off on the requisitions, but she acknowledged that I really needed to work directly w/Dr. Matzner in L.A. or
Dr. Stricker in Los Gatos, as we were getting into territory in which she was not experienced. Since it's hard to find a
collaborating RE at any of the "big three" Seattle-area IVF clinics, Cheryl is a great asset, as she is happy to work with
you and will facilitate your getting the labwork done you need. It's best if you have done a lot of research yourself,
though.

You don't have to do IVF to see her.
She doesn't deliver babies anymore but she can manage your pregnancy
for the first 12 weeks and then you can switch to an OB for the
delivery etc. She is very open to everything. I mentioned to her that I had had a
telephone consult with Gavin Sacks in Sydney and was thinking about
flying to Sydney for the NK cell test and she said that she could do
that here in Melbourne no problems!
She also said with my recurrent miscarriage history she would use
prednisone even though my immune tests have all been low levels,
nothing out of the ordinary. She takes every precaution and covers all
bases. She has also given me scripts for Clexane and progesterone.
So if you are in Melbourne and want someone very open, very thorough,
not dismissive of anything etc, I highly recommend Lyn. I have heard
from other patients of hers on other forums that she has a very high
success rate with pregnancy.
Another patients comments: Lynn Burmeister tests for NK in a biopsy but does nothing about it but prednisone-She
and her nurse both claim the prednisolone is unproven and were happy to allow me to transfer without ANY NK
protection/deflection. She is direct which I like but can be nasty and dismissive. I will change DR to take the last one
back

Dr Gamal Matthias, I think, is the only RI in Sydney Australia who truly follows Beer protocol. He does thorough
endometrial biopsy, sends bloods to Chicago, offers IVIG, Intralipids and LIT. He is rather aloof, but is also very
thorough re medications and keeps you on them till very safe He is not linked with IVF which means he can just

Sydney. I can't rave about him enough - he is just delightful - very
sympathetic to the cause and very professional. Finally someone who

Centre and then at ARGC and has now set up his own
clinic. I rang up and had a consultation (100) with him and
he has agreed to prescribe all my immune meds. (ie
steroids, IVIG, gestone etc) and administer the IVIG

both Dr. Beer (who he worked with at the ARGC) and one
of the doctors at the LFC.
More patient comments: Yes he is nice, although a little on the quiet side at first and it takes a while to get to know
him.Costs- well the Chicago tests are 780 for a comprehensive panel (about the going rate for these tests) a
consultation is 100 and a folllow up 70, standard IVF is 2000 + drugs and blood tests. The drugs are expensive, but
you can't get away from that, Mr Gorgy will give you a prescription and I shopped around for the best price I could.
There is not usually much of a waiting list. Yes, Mr Gorgy is knowledge about immune issues and certainly has got me
further than anyone else so far. One of the best things about being treated about Mr Gorgy is that compared to drs at
other clinics I have found him very accessible, you can speak to him on the phone (although sometimes you might
have to chase!)

from Beer Centre. If your own local doctor is willing to help with the blood taking you could pack and Fedex them
yourself. Lots of ladies in the UK have done their blood test this way. CARE Nottingham Mandy mentioned has good
reputation, threfore, there is a 12-week waiting for a consultation, you also need your own doctor's referral. As Mandy
said there are a few choices, it is a personal choice. I choose Trevor Wing to do the immune test for now is because he
is only half hour

Come to us in the morning (ideally between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.) because we have the inject certain times in our
laboratory. The first step would be to draw blood (70ml) from your partner. Usually the treatment is ready by 12:00
a.m.The costs for therapy are 230,58 Euro + 68,05 Euro in case anti D prophylaxis is indicated. Side effects mainly are
local redness and itching for about 2-3 weeks. Risks are those for infectious disease (like in transfusion medicine),
therefore your partner should be tested ccordingly. HLA antibodies are elicited, antibodies against other blood cells
could possibly be elicited. But in our 20 years of experience we did not have negative reports on this. Some information

CD56bright/dim ratio is sufficient to indicate whether there would be an elevated cytotoxicity - this can be done by post
on a sample of chilled blood), cytokines (120Eu TNFa:IL10, IFNg:IL10, IL4:IL10, IL17F:IL10 - these are done on the

Patient comments: Prior to the Greek financial crisis there was a long wait to see the Professor, but as government
funding has been withdrawn, appointments are apparently available very quickly. My understanding is that he uses a
laboratory in Athens for the tests so does not have to send bloods to Chicago so the results are available quickly and
cost about half the price of the Chicago versions for tests including the NK assay, immunophenotype and cytokines.
The arrangement is that Serum help you arrange to see the immunologist who recommends the tests you need and
advises on the results (you would need to pay the immunologist directly and Serum don't receive any fee for arranging
for you to see him).
He has only just started to offer the KIR genotyping test.

Another patient experience: I have just returned from my first visit to Dr Dimitris Papanikolaou
(=DP) in Athens. Our discussion lasted almost two hours, which is a
pretty good effort and provided ample opportunity to get everything on
the table. Admittedly, DP is time rich whilst he is works to establish
his business, but from his description of how his treatments will
involve intensive monitoring (eg, blood tests twice a day if
necessary) and be very carefully tailored [it sounded a lot more so
than my big London clinic], I expect he will be spending quite a bit
of time with all his patients. His treatment will be based upon
learnings from the ARGC, and several other clinics he has worked with
in the UK. DP is based in the IVF clinic at the "MHTEPA" private maternity clinic
and therefore has access to their facilities. One of the reasons he
located there is because the embryologist is English and he trusts him.?

suggested. I even gave him the # of lymphocytes required for a double
dose and he agreed that this was his standing process already. One complaint is that Dr Morales does not seem to
require the same infectious disease screening as Dr Quiroga does (so this is why he is not recommended by Chris
Sanow at Dr Beers office) A large percent of his practice is IVF patients from the States. He personally answers his

tests done ... I would ask them how recent they need to be when you call them. Im just a bit worried that their English
is not that good (as Im fluent in Turkish I did not have that problem) but it is a simple procedure really ... .
I believe Dr Shafak studied in America and therefore knows English ... the other person that might help on the phone is
to ask for Dr Fevzi (pronounced Favzee). The name of the consultant is Ms. Seval Tasdemir. But the nurses do the LIT
for you ... It costs $300 for each LIT.... just so you know.
