Jesse Lindell wins Special Holiday

Tournament in Rockville Centre Lanes

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY - Jesse Lindell took home the first
prize in a special youth holiday tournament that was held the day
after Christmas in Rockville Centre Lanes. Steve Friedman, tournament director, added $200 to the prize fund.
A total of 36 entries and 13 bowlers received scholarship awards,
better than a 1 in 3 ratio, with the top five making the finals.
First place Jesse Lindell received $170, second place went to
Anthony Capellupo with a $140 prize followed by 3RD place
Amanda Petrillo $100, 4TH Ryan Martin $75 and 5Th Janson Eras
$50. A total of $780.00 was awarded, with a minimum of $25
award. All had a great time and the wheels are turning to make this
an annual event.
A special thanks to Al Mayo for all the help he gives in these
tournaments.

Jung Dawun Wins World Womens Masters

Emirates - During the first three
events at the 2015 World Bowling
Women's Championships, Jung
Dawun of Korea looked on as her
teammates appeared in each medal
round, bowling for gold medals in
singles, doubles and trios.She
finally found her own place in
the spotlight in the last event of
the week as she topped United
States Bowling Congress Hall
of Famer Liz Johnson of
Cheektowaga, New York, 256183, to win the Masters gold
medal at Zayed Sports City's
Khalifa International Bowling
Centre.
It was the second world
championship for the righthander, who helped Korea to
the team gold medal in 2013,
and while she said there's nothing like sharing a win with her
teammates, it was a special
honor to find individual success against someone she
looks up to.
Jung struck eight times in the
final match, while Johnson
struggled with carry on the
same pair of lanes that yielded
two 300s for her this week.
"Liz is one of the best in the
world and I knew it was going to
be tough to beat her," Jung said.
"To win was a dream come true. It
was a very competitive week and
very nice to have a last game like
that."
The week of the World Women's
Championships, 147 players from
30 countries bowled six games of
singles, doubles, trios and team on
two different lane conditions - the
43-foot Tokyo oil pattern and 36foot Los Angeles pattern.
The top 24 in the all-events
standings advanced to Sunday's
Masters Competition that featured
the long pattern on each left lane
and the short pattern on the right.
After six additional games, the
field was cut to the top eight for
round-robin match play.

four wins in match play, Johnson
was the top seed for the Masters

Two USBCRecords Recently Broken

ARLINGTON, Texas - As most
United States Bowling Congresscertified leagues are winding down
for the year, a few bowlers were
able to finish 2015 in memorable
fashion, adding their names to the
USBC record books.
Chuck Foudray of Green Bay,
Wisconsin, tossed 30 strikes on the
way to becoming the oldest bowler
to roll an 800 series, while a trio of
Michigan bowlers came within one
pin of perfection in breaking the
three-player, single-game record
with an 899 effort.
Both achievements are pending
approval from USBC.
Foudray's performance during
the Monday MFL (Manhattan Fun
League) at Manhattan Lanes in De
Pere, Wisconsin, on Dec. 14
included games of 254, 278 and
278 for an 810 series.
At 84 years, 3 months and 28
days old, Foudray supplants Gerald
Gray of Celina, Ohio, who was 83
years, 7 months old when he rolled
an 805 series in 2005. Foudray's
only previous USBC-certified 800
was an 815 set in 2010.
"This is something I never
expected to do, but it was one of
those days where everything just
went right," said Foudray, who also
owns a handful of perfect games. "I
had 532 after two games and really
just wanted to shoot 700. Getting to
800 never was a thought, and I
don't think anyone even realized it
was happening."
Foudray has a history in the sport
that dates to his youth and a stint in
the U.S. Air Force, but he gave up
bowling from 1959-1994 to focus
on working and raising a family.
He returned to the lanes in 1995 for
the camaraderie and to do something he enjoyed.
In the years since, Foudray has
bowled as many as five days a

week but now limits his participation to just one afternoon league where he has become a celebrity.
"I'm still trying to get used to the
idea of being a record holder,"
Foudray said. "I was as amazed as
anyone else. I've been bowling well
this year, and that's my main goal
when I go out there. I'm definitely
not out to break any records, which
makes this even better."
The week's other record performance came in the Tuesday Tavern
league at Candlelite Bowl in
Bridgeport, Michigan, where
Bobby Sanch, Brian McMahon and
Steve Novak rolled games of 300,
299 and 300, respectively, topping
the existing record of 897, rolled in
Baltimore in 2006.
Novak has earned a reputation as
a top team bowler, having helped
Saginaw Valley State University to
a win at the 2006 Intercollegiate
Team Championships and his
Junior Team USA Support 1 team
to Team All-Events titles at the
USBC Open Championships in
2013 and 2015.
The 32-year-old right-hander
now helps coach the SVSU team,
while McMahon is a past team
member and Sanch currently bowls
for the Cardinals.
"This definitely by far is the best
accomplishment I've been a part of
in a league setting, and it was a lot
fun," Novak said. "The whole
league stopped and watched our
10th frame, and that was really
cool. Any of us could shoot 300 on
a given night, but for all of us to
have a chance at the same time was
something we've never experienced. Even though we didn't get
the 900, we did do something that's
never been done, and that's special."

Michael Endress Takes SI USBC Masters Title

STATEN ISLAND, NY - Michael Endress, 30, captured his first Staten Island USBC Masters
Championship Tournament title after five consecutive
appearances in the events finale at Rabs Country
Lanes.
Endress has built an impressive resume in Staten
Island USBC events, earning titles in both the Mens
and Open Doubles Championship Tournament over
the past ten years, including the elusive All Events
Titles (Net & Gross).
The 7th Annual Staten Island USBC Masters
Championship Tournament, presented by XCEL
Federal Credit Union was played on the 2015 USBC

Masters Lane Condition. Top seed after the qualifying

round was the eventual runner-up, Peter Diemer, who
qualified with a 1,080 series. And as the 2014
Champion, Sean McAuliffe was automatically seeded
into the Finals.
Michael Endress Jr. earned $1,500 for his top finish
followed by Peter Diemer Jr. $750, Kevin Buono
$400, Dan Dunleavy $350, Sean McAuliffe $310, Jeff
