THE HOOVER ..LARK" CtEAilER

MAKES

YOUR CARPETS IAST YEARS LOilGER

Your nerv I{oover "Lark", Model 1334 is ure latest in electric
.cleaner design, providing new features for utmost cleaning
efliciency and convenience, including the arriazing doublestretch hose, a wonderful new idea exclusive to Hoover Cleaners.
Only the Hoover Cleaner " beats . . . as it srveeps .
as it
cleans, and therefore, removes deeply trodden in grit, rvhich is
the real cause of carpet wear. If your carpets have not been
Ffoover cleaned, the pile has already been damaged by the
action of sharp edged grit. New carpets contain loose pile
clippings, therefore, use your Floover Cleaner frequently. Its
three efficient cleaning actions will keep them thoroughly clean
and .it u,ill preserve their good condition. your Cleaner is
fully suppressed for Radio and 'felevision, and made to British
Standards r645.

IMPORTANT
The Ifoovcr Clcaner operates on either alternating or direct
current, br-rt bc sure that your electricity supply voltage is
u'ithin thc range marked on the Cleaner nameplate, situated
insicle the front cover. (Fig. r).
As with all elcctrical appliances disconnect the plug from tl-rc
electricity sypply before making any adjustment.

HOW TO MAINTAIil EFFICIENCY

If your cleaner

is not operating efficiently it nay be

due to one of the following reasons:-

(a) The Disposall bag needs emptying.

(b) A new belt is required.
(c) The agitator brushes need replacing.
REPLACING THE AGITATOR BELT. From time

to time the belt will either stretch or show a

tendency to crack, in which case it should be
replaced. To do this, remove the front cover
plate and slip the belt off the fan pulley, turn the
cleaner over, lever up the belt guard and pull the
agitator out of t}:.e nozzle. Replace the old belt
with a new one and replace the agitator in the
cleaner. Snap the belt guard back into position
and turn the cleaner over. Fit the belt over the
fan pulley as shown in diagram inside the front
opening. Replace the front cover plate. New belts
can be obtained from your local Hoover Service
Station or dealer.
GHECKING AGITATOR BRUSHES. Failure to
pick up threads is an indication that the agitator
brushes need replacement. You can check this as
shown

in Fig. rr. Ileplaccment brushes can

CLEANING TOOTS
The cleaning tools which can be supplied for your
Hoover cleaner cater for every dusting need (Fig, rz).

Illustrations opposite show everyday uses, and

will reveal many others. Light yet firmly
connected, the extension tube saves stretching and
stooping and the swivel joint in the hose prevents

wrist strain.

CLEANING TOOL CONVERTOR. This ingeniorts

FIG 12 The

tools

convert6r has been so designed that cleaning tools can

be attached to the cleaner with the minimum of effort,
The action of assembling the convertor to the cleuner
automatically disengages the belt from the motor pulley
and so stops the agitator rotating whilst cleaning tools
are being used. The removal of the convertor
aUtomatically replaces the belt on the motor pulley.

TO ATTACH CLEANING TOOL CONYERTOR.

l{emove cleaner front cover. Take convertor and

rotate front ring clockwise to its stop at bottom right

hand corner. Hook lower edge of convertor body
hehind the lower edge of main casting. (Fig. r3),
Press back top edge of convertor until it touches main
casting, and maintain ptessure whilst rotating handle
anti-clockwise until it reaches bottom left hand corner.
Cleaning tool hose end can now be plugged into
convertor-press in until latch engages. 'l'o remove

BLOWER. By using the blower attachment, the crevice

tool can be used to aerate under carpets and blow dust

from radiators and crevices which are otherwise

difficult to reach. A damp sheet draped over or
placed beneath the article being cleaned will collect
rhe dirt. To air pillows, open a seam in one corner to
admit the crevice tool, hold the pillow case firmly
round the tool and switch on.

TO ATTACH BLO\^/ER. Fit convertor to front of

machine (this is to remove the belt from the motor
pulley and so prevent rotation of the agitator), remove
Disposall bag from its support tube and on to this push
the large end of the blower moulding. The large end
of the hose will then plug into the smaller end of the

blower moulding. (Fig. l+). To release any dust

laying in the cleaner or hose, first direct the air out of a
convenient window for a moment.
