aseriesofcharttoppingalbums,sellsoutthemostprestigiousconcerthalls
worldwide,composedastringofawardwinningfilmscoresandroutinelytops
audiencepollsbecominganinternetphenomenon.Withauniquemusicalalchemy
thatdrawsonelementsofclassical,rock,electronicaandworldmusicshehas
renderedtraditionalideasofgenreandaudiencedivideobsoleteandbecomenot
onlyoneofthebestknowncomposersintheworldtodaybutalmostcertainlythe
bestlovedtoo.
LudovicowasborninTurin,ItalyandtrainedasaclassicalcomposerandpianistattheMilan
ConservatoriobeforecontinuinghisstudieswithLucianoBerio,oneofthemostimportantcomposersofthetwentiethcentury
avantgarde.HiscareerbeganwithaseriesofprestigiouscommissionsforinstitutionssuchastheUSAsTanglewood
Festival,ParisIRCAMandrecentlytheNationalCenterofPerformingArtsofBeijing,butheturnedawayfromwhatseemeda
glitteringclassicalcareertoforgehisownmusicalpath,givinghimthefreedomtoreconcilehiswiderranginginfluences.
Itwasaboldstrategybutonequicklyrewarded,whenLudovicoselectricharpsuiteStanze(1997)wasfirstplayedonBBC
Radiotheswitchboardjammedwithlisteners.ItwasasimilarstorywithhisnextreleaseLeOnde(1998),asolopianocycle
heperformedhimself.AlistenerorganisedcampaignmadeitLudovicosbreakthroughandapermanentfixtureatopthe
ClassicFMcharts.Thisupswellofgrassrootsactivity,snowballingwiththeonsetoftheinternetandsocialmedia,has
allowedLudovicotobuildauniquelycloserelationshipdirectlywithhisaudience.
LeOndealsoignitedLudovicoscareerinFilm&TVmusicandhehassincecomposedmanyawardwinningscores
includingDoctorZhivago(2002)andSottoFalsoNome(2004)whichalsobecamesuccessfulalbumsintheirownright.In
recentyearsShaneMeadowsacclaimedfilmThisIsEngland(2006)anditstelevisionsequelThisIsEngland86(2010)
havebroughtaBAFTAnominationforLudovicoandintroducedhismusictoahugenewaudience.In2011another
acclaimedfilmusedhismusic:IntouchablesbyOlivierNakacheandEricSoledano.Thefilmhasbeenvotedasthecultural
eventof2011inFranceandithasbeensubmittedforthe85thAcademyAward.
LudovicobuiltontheimpactofLeOndewithaseriesofalbumsnotablefortheirexuberant
experimentation.EdenRoc(1999)sawanarrayofguestmusiciansandinstrumentsrangingfromelectricguitartothe
Armenianduduk.IGiorni(2001)deepenedthisengagementwithworldmusicinLudovicossecondcollectionforsolopiano.
HisbestofcollectionfromthesefirstfouralbumsEchoes:TheEinaudiCollection(2003)hassincegonetosellmorethan
100,000copies.
AsLudovicosfamegrew,hisconcertschedulenaturallygrewalongwithitandbecameanincreasinglyimportantpartofhis
life.Itimmediatelyledtotwonewalbums,DiarioMali(2005),acollaborationwithkoravirtuosoBallakSissokoandhisfirst
livesoloalbumLaScalaConcert03.03.03(2003),recordedinhisadoptedcityofMilan.
ThereleaseofUnaMattina(2004)sawmorefirsts,itwasLudovicosdebutalbumonnewandcurrentrecordlabel
Universalandalsohismostclassicaltodate.Largelywrittenforsolopiano,itleapttothetopoftheUKClassicalalbumchart
andgavehimhisfirstsoldoutUKtour.
NowoneofthemostpopularcomposersintheUKandthroughoutEurope,athomeLudovicosreputationscaledevenloftier
heightsandthusonMay26th,2005inRome,LudovicoEinaudiwasawardedtheOrdinealMeritodellaRepubblicaItaliana
(orOMRI)theseniororderofKnighthoodbestowedbytheItalianRepublic.
ThestagewassetforDivenire(2007)hismostmusicallyambitiousalbumyetandhisgreatest
commercialsuccesstodate.DiveniregatheredmanyofthemusicalstreamsthathadflowedthroughLudovicoscareerand
expandedonthemwiththehelpofTheRoyalLiverpoolPhilharmonicOrchestraandabatteryofdigitaleffects.
Onreleaseitbecameaphenomenon,toppingclassicalchartsthroughoutEuropeandcrashingtheItalianpopcharts.With
salesinexcessof300,000copiesandaBRITawardsAlbumoftheYearnomination,Ludovicoembarkedonhisbiggesttour
yet,80datesacrossEurope.OnewascapturedforhissecondlivealbumLiveInBerlin(2008)anditallculminatedata
memorableconcertatLondonsRoyalAlbertHall.
WithpeoplearoundtheglobenowclamoringtoseehimLudovicobecameapermanentfixtureontheroad,travelingtonew
audiencesinIndia,JapanandtheUSA.AlongthewayheformedacollaborationwithRobertLippockofpostrockbandTo
RococoRotandtheresultswouldbeheardintwoalbumsreleasedin2009,onefeaturingLudovicoasbandmember,the
otherasasoloartist.
FirstwasCloudland(2009)thedebutfromWhitetreecomprisingLudovicoonpiano,RobertLippokonelectronics,and
RobertsbrotherRonaldLippokondrumswhichhasasunnyAfricanfeelamidthecuttingedgeelectronicsandpercussion.

In2010and2010hehasbeeninvitedtoconducttheConcertoneoftheFestivalLaNottedellaTarantainthePugliaregion
wheremorethan100,000peopledancedthewholenightaway.Asuccesfultouralsofollowedwhichincludedtwosoldoutin

profusionofexuberantmusic.Einaudihasrefreshedthetraditionbyrearrangingtheoldsongs,writingnewmusic,and
invitinginternationalguestssuchasTheTurkishmultiinstrumentalistandDJMercanDede,thegreelsingerSavinaYannatou
,BallakeSissokotheMaliankoraplayerandtheGuitarrist/composerJustinAdamsandtheGambiangriotJuldehCamara.
In2011thecollectionIslandwhichincludesalsosomeunpublishedworksreachedaterrificsuccess.Thetourinthesame
yearbroughthimalsotouringinAsiawhereheperformedinaseriesofsoldoutconcertsinJapan,Thailand,Vietnam,and
twiceinChina.
OtherHighlightsofhisactivityin2012include:aperformanceatBTRiverofMusicinJuly,an
acclaimedtributetoLucianoBeriowithhiscompositionTheElementspremieredinRomeinSeptemberandhis
parecipationattheLondonFilmFestivalinOct2012playingattheprojectionofThisisEnglandwithlivescore.InNovember
hehasbeenawardedwiththePremioVittorioDeSicafromthePresidentGiorgioNapolitano.
