Theissueofantibioticmisuseamonghumansandlivestockisfairlywellknownnow,butyoumightbesurprisedtohearthatenvironmental
contaminationcouldbeaproblemaswell.EcologistsstudyingantibioticresistanceinGeorgiafoundthatbacteriainstreamsthathadbeenexposed
toindustrialwasteweremuchmorelikelythanpristinestreamstoshowsignsofantibioticresistance.Thediscoverycouldmeanthatenvironmental
contaminationisanotherfrontonwhichweshouldbefightingthebattleofantibioticresistance.
