Introduction

Introduction

HiPath 3000/5000 V4.0 is a highly scalable communications system designed for both small
and medium sized companies as well as for extensive Enterprise networks. HiPath 3000/5000
V4.0 is available in various configurations and variants from straightforward standalone systems with a small number of stations through to centrally administrated networks with 64 nodes
and up to 2000 workpoint clients. The system architecture avails of the advantages of distributed systems to spread the load placed on individual components and to achieve optimal performance.
HiPath 3000/5000 V4.0 is available in the following four basic variants:

HiPath 3000 V4.0 Standalone IP System:

The standalone system is based on Euro-ISDN for connecting analog workpoint clients,
digital workpoint clients (such as optiPoint 500, optiPoint 600) and IP-based workpoint clients (such as optiPoint 400 and optiClient 130).

HiPath 3000 V4.0 Networked IP System:

The networked system is a network of several HiPath 3000 V4.0 (nodes) networked over IP

HiPath 5000 RSM V4.0 Multi-Node IP System:

The Multi-Node system consists of several HiPath 3000 V4.0 (nodes) networked over IP
with a central HiPath 5000 RSM server. HiPath 5000 RSM (Real-time Service Manager) is
based on the Windows 2000 server and features open architecture which permits the implementation of different scenarios and individual capacity limits. The entire system is centrally administrated via the HiPath 5000 RSM server.

HiPath 3000/5000 V4.0 Distributed Architecture:

This is a HiPath 5000 RSM V4.0 Multi-Node IP System with a central HiPath 5000 RSM
server and an additional applications server.

of the HiPath 3000/5000 V4.0. These documents also contain detailed information
on system installation and startup.

Administration

The HiPath 3000 5000 Manager E and HiPath

5000 3000 Manager I service tools are required for setting up
and configuring the entire system. The software should be
available on the technicians service laptop or should be installed on the HiPath 5000 RSM Feature Server for central
administration. You can install both of these programs from
CD 1 via the master setup. V.24 or Ethernet interfaces are
used for connecting to the HiPath 3000/5000 system.

8. Licensing
To license the Feature Server, transfer the LIC file generated on HiPath 3000/5000
the licensing server (http://cls.icn.siemens.de) to the CDB directo- Service Manual
ry.
Check the path name to the LIC file in the vsrv.ini.
Licensing can be performed either immediately or within five days
of startup. The MAC ID of the CB (control board) of the
HiPath 3000 system with the lowest node ID is required for licensing.
The MAC ID of the first HG1500 in the HiPath 3000 with the lowest node ID is required for licensing TAPI lines (TAPI 170).
Enter the license key as explained in the TAPI 170 online help.
The HG1500 MAD ID is required for licensing HG 1500 IP clients
(such as optiPoints) and B channels. Release the B channels and
IP clients with the HiPath 3000 Manager I under Service Licensed B Channels and Licensed Clients and transfer the CDB.
Now read out the CDB again, increase the number of B channels
in use and copy back the CDB.
IP clients (optiClients) are licensed during installation.
HiPath TAPI 120 is licensed during installation.
