1.0 Introduction
1.1 Statement of Purpose
With safety being a primary concern for citizens after dark, the need for sidewalk lighting
has been essential along frequently traveled paths. The problem is that the lights are on all night
which presents a very serious power conservation concern. Our product aims to solve the
power conservation problem by collecting data pertaining to human motion through a walkway
and using that information to control lighting.
1.2 Objectives
1.2.1 Goals and Benefits
Limits power use for outdoor lighting
Increases pedestrian safety through tracking
Data collection of human movement patterns
1.2.2 Functions and Features
Sense environmental conditions.
Track human motion and speed
Pressure sensors detect human presence and infrared sensors detect speed through the
walkway.
Enable and disable security cameras as people move through the walkway
Change lighting color and power based on environmental conditions
