The Lords Day Worship Service

January 10, 2016

God Calls Us
To Worship
The Call To Worship
~ based on Isaiah 40 ~
Leader: To whom will you compare
Me that I should be like him? says the
Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high and see: who
created these? He who brings our their
host by number, calling them all by
name? By the greatness of His might,
and because He is strong in power not
one is missing.
Have you not known? Have you not
heard? The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
Unison: He does not faint or grow
weary; his understanding is un searchable. He gives power to the faint and to
him who has no might he increases
strength.
Leader: Even youths shall faint and be
weary, and young men shall fall
exhausted
Unison: but they who wait on the
Lord shall renew their strength; they
shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary; they
shall walk and not be faint.

Prayer Of Adoration
Songs Of Praise & Worship
How Great You Are
Our God is great
The Father of creation
His splendour fills the earth
The lightning crash
The thunder sings His praises
The galaxies cant help
But shout His worth

chorus
My soul must sing to You an offering
How great You are
My soul must sing
Oh, let the heavens ring
How great You are
Oh, how great You are

Song Of Response

God Graciously
Renews Us In
Christ
Call To Repentance &
Renewal
~ Psalm 33:13-14 ~
Leader: The Psalmist tells us,

The Word made flesh

Gods promise to the fallen
He came with powr to save
The light of life
Was crushed for our rebellion
He died our death
And rose up from the grave

The Lord looks down from heaven; He

sees all the children of man; from where
He sits enthroned He looks out on all the
inhabitants of the earth, He who fashions
the hearts of them all and observes all
their deeds.

(repeat chorus)

Prayer Of Confession

Our King will come

With trumpet blasts resounding
To claim His blood-washed bride
Hell rend the skies
Descending in His glory
And in an instant faith will turn to sight
O For a Thousand Tongues
O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemers praise
The glories of my God and King
The triumphs of His grace
My gracious Master and my God
Assist me to proclaim
To spread through all the earth abroad
The honours of Thy name
Jesus, the name that charms our fears
That bids our sorrows cease
Tis music in the sinners ears
Tis life and health and peace
He breaks the power of cancelled sin
He sets the prisoner free
His blood can make the foulest clean
His blood availed for me
Hear Him, ye deaf; His praise, ye dumb
Your loosened tongues employ
Ye blind, behold your Saviour come
And leap, ye lame, for joy

Leader: Merciful and holy God, You

pardon all who truly turn from their sins
and look to You in faith. We humbly
confess our sins and ask for Your mercy:
we have not loved You with a pure heart,
nor have we loved our neighbour as
ourselves. We have not done justice,
loved kindness, or walked humbly with
You, our God.
~ Silent Confession & Reflection ~
Leader: Have mercy on us, O God. In
Yo u r l o v i n g k i n d n e s s a n d g r e a t
compassion, cleanse us from all our sins
in thought, word, and deed. Create in us
clean hearts, O God, and renew a right
spirit within us. Do not cast us from Your
presence or take Your Holy Spirit from
us. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation
and sustain us with a willing spirit,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Words Of The Gospel

~ 1 Timothy 1:15 ~
Leader: Here are words that you may
fully trust, words that deserve full
acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the
world to save sinners.
To all who confess their sins and trust in
the Lord Jesus Christ, He says, Your
sins are forgiven. He also says, Follow
me.

Christ Is Risen
Let no one caught in sin remain
Inside the lie of inward shame
But fix our eyes upon the cross
And run to Him who showed great love
And bled for us, freely Youve bled for us
chorus
Christ is risen from the dead
Trampling over death by death
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave!
Christ is risen from the dead
We are one with him again
Come awake, come awake!
Come and rise up from the grave!
Beneath the weight of all our sin
You bow to none but heavens will
No scheme of hell, no scoffer's crown
No burden great can hold you down
In strength you reign
Forever let your church proclaim
(repeat chorus)
bridge
Oh death! Where is your sting?
Oh hell! Where is your victory?
Oh Church! Come stand in the light!
The glory of God has defeated the night!
Oh death! Where is your sting?
Oh hell! Where is your victory?
Oh Church! Come stand in the light!
Our God is not dead
He's alive! He's alive!

God Receives
Our Offerings

For the kingdom, the power, and the

glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

Presentation Of Our Tithes

& Offerings
Song Of Preparation
Your Love, O Lord
Your love, O Lord
Reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness
Stretches to the sky
Your righteousness
Is like the mighty mountains
Your justice flows
Like the ocean's tide
chorus
I will lift my voice
To worship You, my King
I will find my strength
In the shadow of Your wings
ending
Your love, O Lord
Reaches to the heavens
Your faithfulness
Stretches to the sky

The Prayers Of The People

For The Church & City
Leader: Let us pray.
Unison: Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come,
Your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and
forgive us our debts as we also have
forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Man Of Sorrows
Man of sorrows, Lamb of God
By His own betrayed
The sin of man and wrath of God
Has been on Jesus laid
Silent as He stood accused
Beaten, mocked, and scorned
Bowing to the Father's will
He took a crown of thorns
chorus
Oh, that rugged cross, my salvation
Where Your love poured out over me
Now my soul cries out, hallelujah
Praise and honour unto Thee
Sent of heaven, God's own Son
To purchase and redeem
And reconcile the very ones
Who nailed Him to that tree
(repeat chorus)
bridge
Now, my debt is paid
It is paid in full
By the precious blood
That my Jesus spilled
Now, the curse of sin
Has no hold on me
Whom the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
(repeat)
O The Wonderful Cross
When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride
See from his head, his hands, his feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did ever such love and sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown
chorus

God Feeds Us His

Covenant Meal

O the wonderful cross

O the wonderful cross
Bids me come and die
And find that I may truly live
O the wonderful cross
O the wonderful cross
All who gather here by grace draw near
And bless Your name

Songs For Communion

Were the whole realm of nature mine

That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all

Pastor John Ferguson

(repeat chorus)

Our Confession Of Faith

Announcements

~ based on Romans 8:1, 29, 38-39 ~

Leader: Let us together profess our
faith by saying
Unison: We believe there is no
condemnation for those who are in
Christ Jesus; for we know that all things
work together for good for those who
love God, who are called according to
Gods purpose.
We are convinced that neither life, nor
death, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things
present, nor things to come, nor powers,
nor height, nor depth, nor anything else
in all creation, will be able to separate
us from the love of God in Christ Jesus
our Lord. Amen.

The purpose of this congregational meeting is to elect new elders. The members of
NCC have nominated candidates, and the pastoral team has sought to train and
prepare the nominees. At this time, the elder team of NCC is delighted to put before
the congregation Tom Dekker and Calvin Van Hill to be elected to the office of
elder. We believe these men meet the Scriptural qualifications for the office of elder,
mesh with the vision and values of NCC, and are ready, available, and willing to
take up the responsibilities of this office at this time. Therefore, we commend them
to you in this upcoming election. While the meeting is open to everyone, only adult
members of New City Church are eligible to vote. Please make plans to attend this
meeting after the service.
