Modules-to-self:
As the modules have mentioned about the unequal of different races in the past, which is still
occurring nowadays but in a milder way. For me as an international student has experienced
the situation directly or indirectly. When I first studied aboard in Canada, people always talked
about my accent that they did not understand the hardness of using a second language;
however I overcame with this situation by training my accent and talking to native people.
Even though I had overcome this issues, there were still a few stereotypes of Asian that could
not avoid throughout high school. For example, solving a math problem or science question
was just something that I had to know that showed that people still judge others by their
outlooks or cultural backgrounds.

Modules-to-world:
Ever since the 9/11 in 2001, people around the world, especially people in United States, see
most people in Middle East as a group dictator, which this condition has caused many conflicts
within the world nowadays. Many people automatically assume everyone from that region will
attack the world, which is the false assumption that many people from that region are
religious but not extremes as those in the dictatorship groups. Everyone can have their
religion believes; however many people in the world think that whoever believes in Islam will
use horrible methods to give out their lives to their god. This assumption has caused many
people from that region loss the equal opportunity in many areas.

Module-to-text:

In the modules 1, I have learnt about the white people how to unrespect and unfair to the
black people. In addition, I also have learnt the photographsillustrate stereotypes. In fact,
nowadays of the society is become more fair than before, black people has their freedom, their
power; for instance: Obama who is the black person and is the president of the USA now, it
reflect, nowadays of the citizens finally accept the black people. In the module 2, we can
realize that there are going to talking about the invention of the photography, and some
techniques of the photography. In the modules 3, it is going to discuss the Daguerreotype
went to American, and it applied in the portrait. In the module 4, there has mentioned that
Camera was used as a tool in anthropology and colonialism (Professor Ron Herman). It has
explained what is polygenism, and point it different people will have different lineages. And
mentioned photograph become important, since Photos were recorded different portraits of
people.

Modules-to-self

For being an international student, I have an experiences being stereotype by others. I still
remember when I first time to come to Foothill College, I am going to visit my college with my
friends, maybe most of us is the first time to go another country for studying, everything will
be easier to let us attention and feel interesting. Everything for us is very new, and maybe we
become crow, at this moment, we heard a shout and said: Can you shut up, Shorty? It indeed
let me feel very depressed and useless. Same situation, when I was still studying in my
hometown, I have realize that most of the local students have always joking to the foreign
students, because they are speaking inaccurately of the accent. And I am know what their
feel.

Modules-to-world.

I am from Hong Kong, and it is controlled by China, it means most of the mainlands people
come to Hong Kong in every years. However, in the recent years, there have lots of the
negative new about the mainland people how to impolite to the Hong Kong citizens, for
instance, they would jump the queue, ditch in line, or even urinate and defecate in
everywhere, it indeed let the Hong Kong citizens very dislike. And then, they will have a
negative attitude to all the mainland people, I believe we cant do this, since, we just saw a
part of them is doing like this, we cant concluded all of the mainland people.
