The Rifleman is the backbone of any infantry squad or unit. Riflemen are the
most versatile element of a Fire Team, the british rifleman is usually equipped
with the L1A1 (FN FAL ) shown below as well as a variety of hand grenades
and also the possibility of a LAW 72 ROCKET or a CARL GUSTAV AT launcher.
The duties of a Rifleman include :

Executing the orders of his Fire Team / Squad Leader.


Maneuvering and providing cover fire with his element.

Key points things to remember as a rifleman

Listen to your team leader and follow their directions. Fire team and
Squad Leaders are typically the more experienced players. Their role is
to try to keep you alive and in the fight, while accomplishing whatever
mission the squad may be tasked with. Listen to them and stick with
your team.

Scan for, spot, and call out enemy contacts. Do it so that everyone
can hear you. When giving the direction of contacts, relative directions
(front, left, rear, right) can be used when friendly forces are moving, if
not compass directions and degree bearings should be used.

Be concise on when using radio communication. Learn how to speak


clear and short on radio channels to avoid cluttering them up when

Communicate with your buddies. If it's important, let them know. If


you're moving, say so, so that they can know to cover you. Good
communication keeps everyone working together and aware of each
other's status, most importantly it will keep you alive.

weapons

This is the FN FAL used by all british infantry rifleman in the cold war era.
It is chambered for 7.62 x 51mm NATO rounds into a 20 round mag and
has an effective range of 800m.

Frag Grenades

Fragmentation grenades. These are the type most frequently associated


with the word "grenade". They're designed to kill the enemy through blast
and shrapnel effects.
Most are on a 4-5 second time delay fuse, while occasionally you will get
types that detonate on impact. They have an effective kill radius of about
10M

smoke grenades

They are not offensive grenades, rather they're used to screen friendly
movements, mask enemy positions and possibly to mark an LZ for a pilot.

The following Colour meaning for Smoke grenades at TWC are :

White - Only to be used for masking friendly movements either


retreating or assaulting.

Green- For Marking Friendly Positions.

Red- For Marking Enemy positions for Friendly Units.

Blue- For Marking Helicopter Land Sights (HLSs) for friendly helicopters.
