MAKING DISCIPLES...

CHANGING THE WORLD

JANUARY 2015

Sunday
Worship
Schedule

We all know habits are

hard to change, but each
year its a tradition on
January 1 to try to do
something differently.
Our intentions are heartfelt. Weve thought
through what we want.
Were motivated by our
suffering or our desire to
be better in some way.
Why do we fail to fulfill
our resolutions? One reason is that we dont give
them tender loving care.
When we buy a plant, we
water it and put it in the
proper sunlight. So far so

good. The plant does

well for a while and so
do we. Then what happens? The plant and
our conviction start to
wilt. Life and other priorities get in the way.
But dont give up.
Meditate on the resistance along with the
desire to change, accepting both. Ive found
that the dissonance will
begin to fade, and
sometimes it disappears completely.
Meditate every night
on what you might want

to change and have

that one thing be something that will grow your
relationship with God.
Do not get frustrated if
you mess up here and
there. Each night check
your progress and remember, Tomorrow is a
New Day, A New
Chance!!!
May God Bless You in
2016!!!
Blessings,
Rev. April

A Cowboy Goes to
Church

WHEN: April 1st3rd, 2016

WHO: Jr. & Sr. High Youth
This trip will include a concert on Friday, services and devotional times on
Saturday and Sunday. Youth will be allowed ample free time for rides and
games. Total costs will be $35.00 for each youth member, $20.00 for the
activities and $15.00 for lodging. A portion of this expense will need to be
provided by those attending. Youth will be responsible for food and snacks.
Two evening dinners will be provided.
This will be a lasting memory for our youth, bringing them closer to God
and to one another in friendship, having fun while learning about God.
Please call Demian Wegehaupt @ 620-212-6755 with any questions you
might have.

ADULT / PARENT SPONSORS NEEDED!

Parents are encouraged to come to as many youth events as they would like.
Your involvement with their discovery of their faith in Christ is more and
more important as the world gets more turbulent. If you are interested in
serving as a sponsor on this trip, please contact Demian Wegehaupt ASAP!

One Sunday a cowboy

went to church. When he
entered, he saw that he and
the preacher were the only
ones present. The preacher
asked the cowboy if he
wanted him to go ahead
and preach. The cowboy
said, 'I'm not too smart, but
if I went to feed my cattle
and only one showed up, I'd
feed him.'
So the minister began his
sermon. One hour passed,
then two hours, then twoand-a-half hours. The
preacher finally finished
and came down to ask the
cowboy how he liked the
sermon.
The cowboy answered
slowly, 'Well, I'm not very
smart, but if I went to feed
my cattle and only one
showed up, I sure wouldn't
feed him all the hay.'

The Armor of God

A 7-Session Video Driven Womens Study for Small Groups

All day, every day, an invisible war rages around youunseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your
life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on
everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your
marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience,
your dreams, your destiny. The Enemy always fails miserably
when he meets a woman dressed for more than merely a
biblical believers inventory, is an action plan for putting it
on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.

How to become a member....

You are welcome to attend worship services, member or not. For
that matter, you can attend any
activity of the church and are
invited to do so. Becoming a
member is, in faith, saying you
want a deeper commitment to the
church. Our vows ask us to faithfully participate in the life of the
church with our prayers, our
presence, our gifts, our service
and our witness.
We hope you will be a part of
the ministry of the First United
Methodist Church. If you would
like to become a member, please
give us: Name(s), address, phone
number, e-mail address, anniversaries, birthdays and if you are
already a member of some other
church or not. If you are, we also
need the name of the church and,
if possible, the address. Please
give this to the pastor, or leave in
the church office.

Thursday, December 31: New Years Eve Party at The Venue from 8:00 pm
1:00 am.
Sunday, January 10: Unhanging of the Greens following worship.
Tuesday, January 12: All-Committee Meeting at 6:00 pm in Fellowship Hall.
