St. Louis, Mo. - Today, the Metropolitan Police Department released 2015 Uniform Crime
Reporting (UCR) statistics citing a 2.2 percent increase in overall crime in the City of St.
Louis. Person crime increased 7.8 percent and property crimes increased 0.7 percent.
In 2015, the department reported 26,013 Part I Crimes which represents a 2.2 percent increase
compared to 2014 when 25,462 Part I Crimes were reported. Part I Crimes are comprised of
homicides, forcible rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, burglaries, larcenies/thefts, vehicle
thefts and arsons.
Through the month of July, overall crime in the City of St. Louis was up 14.5 percent, with a
24.9 percent increase in person crime and an 11.8 percent increase in property crime. Through
strategies such as hot-spot policing and the dedicated work of our officers, we were able to
substantially reduce the occurrence of crime, said Chief Sam Dotson. We plan to continue to
work towards decreasing crime in our city while also focusing on strengthening community
relations.

Total Part II Crimes increased 13.1 percent when compared to 2014. Complete Part II Crime
statistics are released with the publication of the departments Annual Report.

crimes to 26,013 crimes
Violent Crime (Crimes Against Persons) increased 7.8 percent when compared to
2014, from 5,348 crimes to 5,763 crimes
Property Crimes increased 0.7 percent when compared to 2014, from 20,114 crimes to
20,250 crimes
