ABOUT SESOTHO MEDIA & DEVELOPMENT

SESOTHO MEDIA & DEVELOPMENT (SM&D ) is a non-governmental organisation based in Maseru,
Lesotho. It operates countrywide and believes that communication processes need to be put at the
service of the poor in order to access information and thus enabling Basotho to make informed decisions
about issues that affect their daily lives. SM&D has a long track record of successfully implementing
programs reaching out to a wide range of audiences through facilitated film screenings.
LESOTHO FILM FESTIVAL
Lesotho Film Festival is an annual event. Sesotho Media & Development has carried out this festival since
th

2011, being the 5 festival conducted in 2015. This year's event brings to you stories from Lesotho and
across our beautiful continent, under the theme #TellingAfricanStories.
The Lesotho Film Festival (2015) will take place from the 17th November - 21st November 2015. SM&D intends
to make the film festival to become a national platform to view and review development dialogues through
the camera lenses of primarily Basotho film producers, but also international producers. SM&D believes
that the film festival is a breeding ground for development ideas and a good networking space for
government, corporate and community stakeholders.
