OWNER’S MANUAL
Thank you for purchasing the dashboard TRIP COMPUTER TC-6 designed
for the Škoda Felicia.
This compact device, which can be perfectly integrated into the car’s interior,
will become your indispensable assistant and guide. It will inform you of the
current as well total fuel consumption, average speed, journey time,
kilometres remaining until the tank is empty and the exact fuel level in the
tank. The built-in digital voltmeter enables you to check the state of the
battery and how it is recharging. You will also know the outdoor air
temperature (measured close to the road surface). Automatic signalling can
be activated as an option which will prompt you to monitor the external
temperature more frequently when it drops close to freezing.
Even though the TRIP COMPUTER TC-6 has been carefully adjusted in the
factory, some constants can be modified in order to achieve maximum
accuracy.
Please read this owner’s manual carefully prior to use. It will help you to
understand all its functions and how to use them. Keep this manual in a
safe place for further reference.
We wish you many happy kilometres with the TRIP COMPUTER TC-6!

CONTROLS & FUNCTIONS 2
Control button
Main functions
Controlling the TRIP COMPUTER is simple despite the volume of data it
provides. All the functions are controlled by a single button located below the
display. All six main functions are called up in rotation by repeated pressing
of the button. The control button is divided into two (left & right-hand) sides.
By pressing the right-hand side you can switch forward one function while
the left-hand side serves to switch one function back.
Second-level functions
Other TRIP COMPUTER functions are designed as second-level functions
which can be called up by pressing and holding down the control button for
at least two seconds, regardless of the part of the button pressed. The
second-level functions are used very rarely. The computer is normally
controlled by main functions during standard operation.
Audio indicator
The pressing of each button is accompanied by a short beep, unless the
audio indicator is switched off. Another beep is generated when the button
is pressed and held down for 2 seconds indicating switching over to a
second level function.
Displayed data
NOTE:
The consumption of an idling engine is approximately 0.8 l/h. The
consumption of a running car can vary within a wide range: from 0.0
l/100km while running downhill and not in gear to 50 l/100km during heavy
acceleration while fully loaded.
CONTROLS & FUNCTIONS 4
CURRENT CONSUMPTION
SPEED < 32 km/h SPEED ≥ 32 km/h
cannot be reset. The range of values displayed is 0.0 - 68000.0 litres with an
accuracy of 0.1 litre. Exceeding the top limit value resets the counter and
the computer starts counting again from zero. This information is useful for
example for checking the accuracy of fuel consumption measurement and
the subsequent calculation of possible corrections during computer
adjustment (see chapter SETUP - Flow meter correction).
Displaying this value is done in two phases: the first phase displays the litres
for 6 seconds and the second phase displays hundreds of litres for 2
seconds. Both phases alternate.
Average consumption
The average consumption is calculated continuously from the last resetting.
If you do not reset the computer manually it resets automatically after driving
16 000 km. At the same time the TRIP COMPUTER switches into the mode
displaying average consumption. Manual resetting is done by the means of
pressing and holding down the control button with the AVERAGE
CONSUMPTION displayed. The average consumption starts to be
calculated after driving 250 metres.
NOTE:
At the moment of resetting average consumption, the selected engine type
is displayed for a short time. This enables you to verify whether the proper
type of the engine has been selected (see chapter SETUP - Selecting the
engine type).
Average speed
The average speed is calculated from the journey length and the time for
which the ignition has been on. The calculation is carried out continuously
from the moment of resetting. If you do not reset this function manually, the
computer resets it when 16 000 km have been driven. At the same time the
TRIP COMPUTER switches to the average speed display mode. The
average speed is displayed with a resolution of one decimal place.
You can reset the function by pressing and holding down the control button
with AVERAGE SPEED displayed.
Kilometres remaining
CONTROLS & FUNCTIONS 7
This number tells you how far you can drive with the fuel remaining in your
tank. The number is calculated from the fuel level and the average fuel
consumption over the last 50 kilometres. When fuel level drops below 8
litres and the fuel level indicator stops working properly, the amount of fuel in
the tank is calculated according to consumption actually measured.
Once the tank is refilled, the new value is displayed after 30 seconds. This
delay can be longer in some specific cases (if you add a small amount of
fuel, for example).
NOTE:
The displayed value of kilometres remaining can be changed by adjusting
driving style. For example, if you slow down considerably, the number of
kilometres remaining can even increase.
Fuel level
This piece of information can be displayed by pressing and holding down the
control button with KILOMETRES REMAINING displayed. This value is
similar to the one shown by the standard analogue fuel meter but its
accuracy is one decilitre in the whole range of the tank’s capacity.
CONTROLS & FUNCTIONS 8
The information for filling the tank given in the KILOMETRES REMAINING
section is also valid here.
NOTE:
The computer shows “E“ instead of the fuel level when first installed in the
car. The proper value appears after 30 seconds.
Journey time
The TRIP COMPUTER monitors the whole time of uninterrupted driving and
signals the need for a safety break. It displays the time during which the
ignition has been continuously on. Breaks shorter than 10 minutes are
ignored.
The driver is notified of the need to take a break after 2 hours of continuous
driving. The journey time is displayed with the car symbol blinking. Press the
control button to stop blinking and restore the previously selected function.
This warning repeats after each subsequent two hours driven until you take
a break longer than 10 minutes.
CONTROLS & FUNCTIONS 9
Outdoor temperature
The outdoor temperature in the area close to the road surface is detected by
a sensor located in the left side of the front bumper. The temperature is
displayed in °C with an accuracy of 0.5°C.
NOTE:
If the car is standing with warmed-up engine, the display of increasing
outdoor temperature is blocked.
Dashboard voltage
The digital voltmeter can be selected by pressing and holding down the
control button with the outdoor temperature displayed. The voltmeter
measures the voltage of the car’s electrical network at terminal No. 15 from
which the computer is powered. The displayed value is in Volts with an
accuracy of 0.1 V.
NOTE:
If the engine is running, the dashboard voltage should remain between
13.2 and 14.2 Volts. The exact value depends on the engine speed, state
of the accumulator and the total consumption of all electrical devices
switched on. If the voltage drops below 13 Volts the accumulator is not
charged sufficiently. If the voltage exceeds 14.5 Volts the accumulator is
being overcharged.
The voltage of the accumulator itself, which can be read while the engine
is off, depends on the charge. After several hours of the engine being off,
this voltage stabilises between approximately 12.0 V (accumulator almost
empty) and 12.6 V (accumulator fully charged).
The voltage should not drop below 8 V even after long-term running of the
engine.
WARNING:
Icing can occur on the road even with a displayed temperature higher than
0°C, due to a different road surface temperature!
Audio Signalling
Two short beeps indicate a drop in outdoor temperature below +3°C. If the
temperature was lower than +3°C before you started the car, two short
beeps are generated as soon as you switch the ignition on.
NOTE:
The device has been set up in the factory and during installation in your
car. This chapter is to assist service personnel. Any incorrect manipulation
of the correction button can result in wrong measurements!
Correction button
The correction button is located on the rear cover of the device at the black
connector for the main bunch of cables (marked with an arrow and the
letters “CORR.“).
The TRIP COMPUTER can be switched to the setup mode by pressing and
holding down (2 seconds) the correction button. The display shows engine
type and a blinking symbol of a car. All the setup constants can be called up
by repeated rapid clicks of the correction button. Their values can be
changed by the control button: pressing the right-hand side (+) increases the
value and the left-hand side (-) decreases it.
The SETUP mode can be exited at any moment by pressing and holding
down the correction button. This also writes all the entered changes into the
memory.
NOTE:
The access code has been set up as 000 in the factory. If you key in
your own code, record it carefully and store the record in a safe place. In
case of loss of the code the manufacturer would have to replace the
code memory.
SETUP 14
The engine type and a blinking car symbol is displayed upon entering the
SETUP mode. The table that follows specifies the engine type:
NOTE:
The set up engine type can be verified also in the normal mode in the
AVERAGE CONSUMPTION function. When you reset the average
consumption, the display briefly shows the currently set up engine type.
NOTE:
The changes in the setup take effect only after switching the ignition off
and on again.
The set up engine type must correspond with the information on the label
of the flow meter sensor.
SETUP 15
The flow meter correction can be done by the control button in steps of 1%
within the range from -8% to +7%.
NOTE:
It is generally true for correcting the flow meter that the more fuel you use
for the correction, the more accurate the result is. Considering the
possible inaccuracy of filling up the tank, it is recommended to calculate
the correction twice and only then to set up the value.
NOTE:
The keyed-in changes take effect only after switching the ignition off and
on again.
SETUP 16
1. If the FUEL LEVEL is higher than 6.0, reduce the original fuel level
indicator correction value by the discovered difference.
2. If the FUEL LEVEL is lower than 5.0, increase the original fuel level
indicator correction value by the discovered difference.
The fuel level indicator correction can be adjusted by the control button in
0.5 litre steps in the range from -4.0 l to +3.5 l.
NOTE:
The keyed-in change will take effect only after filling with at least 5 litres
of fuel.
SETUP 17
The outdoor thermometer correction value has been set up in the factory
and should be changed only in special cases such as when the sensor is
replaced.
The correction can be changed by the control button in steps of 0.5°C in the
range -4.0°C to +3.5°C.
Voltmeter correction
NOTE:
The two-decimal-place display does not reflect the accuracy in
measuring average consumption.
Vehicles produced in February 1996 or later are equipped with fuel level
meters with modified characteristics. In order to assure accuracy of the
displayed KILOMETRES REMAINING and FUEL LEVEL readings it is
necessary to set up the fuel level indicator type according to the production
date when installing the TRIP COMPUTER in the car. This is done via the
control button. Select the F95 value for vehicles manufactured up to January
1996 and F96 for vehicles manufactured in February 96 or later. The latter
selection corresponds with fuel level meters with production numbers
441.0.4319/165.6 or higher (printed on the top cover of the fuel pump on the
tank which is accessible after folding forward the rear seats.)
NOTE:
The keyed-in change takes effect only after filling with at least 5 litres of
fuel.
